studio photography problems?
I have a navatron studio set up with three flash heads. Every picture i take with my 5d comes out with a line on the photo and every thing below that line is dark. even when i take a picture in the other direction it still does this and the line only changes places on the photo if i change the shutter speed. however when i unplug the sync cable this stops happening. if anyone has any clue at what my problem is it would be greatly appreciated.

Pooky is right it sounds like you are using a shutter spped that is too fast for your flash sync. Remember at higher shutter speeds a focal plane shutter only opens a small slit in the shutter. because of that the flash will only fire when a small part of the sensor or film is being exposed to light and by time the slit gets to another part of the sensor of film the flash is over.

What is the shutter speed used? Too fast in manual mode if you set it yourself results in camera's focal plane shutter not syncing with the light.
