How does one import a car into the US, like a Skoda or a Peugeot?
It seems that the European car manufacturers don't want to compete in the cheap econo-box market here in the US. They instead focus on the higher end of the automotive spectrum. We all know that there are lots of makes and models out there that don't make it to the US for a variety of reasons. However, if you were determined enough, what would you need to do to get one of these nifty little European cars, like a Citogen, a Peugeot, or a Skoda into the US? You would only be bringing one in for yourself one time.

Great idea, but one problem. How are you going to get said Skoda or Peugeot repaired? Sure, Skoda, is a product of VW/Audi Group (VAG), however a VW dealer will not know how to work on it. Also, Peugeot pulled out of the US some 20 years ago, and there are not many mechanics out there to work on French cars. I brought over an Audi A4 Avant, without issues, it just took awhile to clear customs and DOT.

No! I don't believe that the United States should stop making cars. Even though the economy is not in great shape. Especially the car industry. One of the reasons that make this country the (super power) is the ability of trading goods. Some of the resources in other countries that the United States don't have is quality but not the quantity. The amount of money the US pay for other countries merchandise, they receive almost triple the amount in the US. Understand that some american cars are not safe because of the material that it is made from (making them cheaper) The objective is so that the consumers will feel safer and the quality of the car is superb. Giving the demand of the vehicle. Remember the more money the payee pay for the car, the higher the tax and in issuance. Thus making the economy better!!

you have to PAY,PAY,PAY,PAY....... also car needs to go into quarantine for up to 12 weeks, they also will rip the whole thing apart. They DO NOT take care nor are they responsible for any damage they cause while ripping it apart! (looking for drugs,bombs,etc...)
I had a friend who got out of the military a while back (a year or so ago) who brought back some foreign car and it was almost a total loss, the paint was scratched, big dents, flat tires, wiring was all mixed up... inside seats were torn up.... they claim the Patriot act for protection.....
