Bunions - too young to have surgery to remove?
I am 20, and have an awful bunion. It is quite enlarged, and it is very difficult to find shoes that fit. It is always swore and becomes rather swollen by the end of each day.
My doctor says I am too young to have surgery to remove it, but honestly, I can't stand the pain my bunion causes me. I understand that there is always the risk that it will grow back, but I am only 20 and it is massive. I can't imagine what it will look like by the time I'm 30 or 40.
What are your thoughts? Should I try and find a doctor who will remove it?

I am 17 years old, and had bunion surgery last year. My doctor didn't seem to be concerned about my age at all. The surgery was very painful, but well worth it!

I would wait until your 25 until your body stops growing. Then reconsider surgery. In the mean time I hope your podiatrist or doctor has suggested support for your bunions.

I would definetly go to another doctor to seek a second opinion....Did your dr suggest that you wear orthodics in the bottom of your shoes? He should have offered you SOME sort of treatment...How can he expect you to walk around for the next 60 or so years in pain.
