Consider this,Jimmie/Chase haters??
Ok.It has already started.I am hearing people saying that Carl is the TRUE champion because he would have won it under the classic points system. That is not the system, people.Live with it or quit watching. My question is this:
Do you really think Chad would have used the same pit strategies if we were running under the old sytem?
Do you really think that as good as Jimmie's car was that he couldn't have pulled off a 9th place finish or better(where he would have had to finish with Carl winning and leading the most laps under the old system)?
Jimmie had a car that could have easily finished in the top 5 last night. The reason he didn't?=He didn't have to :)
Why do people insist on using old system scenarios?
Please explain.

Because some people just can't let go.
Carl didn't seem to be too upset.
This IS THIS SYSTEM! The drivers and teams don't have a problem, why do you people.
That is like saying, Well if Clint had one eight more races he would have won the championship, so everyone else was cheating because he didn't get 8 more wins.
Come on people, give it a rest already.

I will be the first to tell you I simply detest the newer race for the chase. Simply put all the emphasis turns to the last 10 races, with the exception of getting into the top 12, the first 26 races don't mean squat.
Jimmie Johnson and his team have figured out what it takes to position themselves in first place once the chase has started. How do I know? Well, simply put they have won it 3 yrs in a row.
The fact that Matt Kenseth won the championship 2/3 of the way through the season is what sparked the change into this format. So in other words, if Jimmie had to count his standings in all 36 races, he would not have been champion.
Now the reverse is true for Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, both had strong seasons, Kyle was phenomenal until the chase started, then everything simply fell apart.
I am not one to sit and calculate what would have been under the old system. I will say in my opinion NASCAR really screwed up the sport going to the chase format.
As far as would Chad Kanauss have used the same pit strategies if they were running under the old system, I doubt it. He would have been forced to adopt a strategy to get them to first place each and every week. It's really hard to say what he would have done because its like comparing apples to oranges.
NASCAR is what it is and we simply have to live with it or move on to something else

I was thinking the same thing. Those must be haters that can't respect Jimmie. I'm a big Gordon fan, but I was still happy for Jimmie after what happened last year. IF the point system was under the old format and IF the same results happened, Carl would have won the title. BUT, the drivers knew how the format would be and the race finish was based on fuel strategy. I believe that Jimmie played it safe since it was under the chase format. If it was under the old format, Jimmie would have had to gamble since Carl was out in front. And if it was under the old format, there would have been a different outcome. Therefore, I think Jimmie would have still won the title if it was under the old format because of the fuel strategy since they would have known what the circumstances would be under the old system. Hopefully they will realize that the only way to win championships now is the chase. It's NASCAR's rule, and people just have to accept it.

I guess you can call me the champion of unpopular causes, because among other things, I like the Chase. Having the chase is like a playoff system like they have in other sports. In the NFL, the Patriots rocked the regular season and lost in the Super Bowl? Is that unfair? Sometimes being a champion is all about getting hot at the right time, and let us not forget that Johnson couldn't have won if he hadn't been good enough to make the Chase in the first place.
As has been said here before: complaining won't change it. Accept or move on. You can change it all you want and I still say Jimmie and Chad find a way to win it. They win 'cuz Jimmie has mad skills, killer equipment and they worker than most of the other guys.

You are correct. JJ would have run the last race differently had the point system been different. That having been said, the Chase sucks. The person who wins the most points over the entire season should be champion. It is ironic that the classic point system provided a more exciting finish in trucks and busch and Cup had they been still using it. We're just tired of silly rules all together. The chase, lucky dog, no racing to the caution, etc are all stupid stupid rules we can live without.

It is obvious Jimmie and his team know how to win championships. I think nascar is no where as exciting as it once was. I actually watch racing less since the chase format started. Something is wrong with the system when after resetting the top 12 for the final 10 races all but 2 guys are eliminated from contention. I do not want to see guys cruise around to win championships, I want as many guys as possible racing hard for a championship.

I agree with you. I've been an avid fan of NASCAR since the first Daytona 500 race broadcast live on Wide World of Sports. Although I'm not happy with these wackadoo brain f*rts from the France's, the Chase is what it is. The COT (Crap of Today) is an ill handling Checker cab with a wing, has scr*wed up the tires Goodyear makes for NASCAR, not the tracks (Brickyard).
Again, it is what it is, either accept or don't watch. All of us are adjusting to what has become ho-hum.

I'm not a fan of the chase, never have been and never will be, but the whole "what if's" are not going to do anyone any good.
Don't let them get to you. Jimmie won, there's nothing they can do about it.
As far as the "old system" analogies, that's an impossible call to make, who knows what they would've done differently, who knows what any of the teams would've done differently.

They can use the old system scenario all they want and can say who should have won but whos name is going into the record books

because they r just sore loosers. i had more grief from my congrats to JJ ? yesterday than u can shake a stick at and on top of that, 1 of them got six of my old ?s deleted for chatting. the carl fans are just a bunch or cry babys like he is.
JJ won it fair and square and if they don't like it then they should find another sport to watch.
