    They both are, but the Secretary of State is in line for President before the attorney general, I believe.

    They're pretty much the same, although the Attorney General tends to be in the spotlight much more often the the Secretary of State.

    Secretary of State: You deal with foreign leaders rather than being tied down to domestic issues.

    State, definitely. However, an AG is more likely to be named to the Supreme Court.
