They both offer very different types of work. So it really depends on what type of work you are interested in.
As an Army officer, you will be based on land. You may spend a lot of time out in the field (outdoor terrain). You can be sent away on short notice and be away from family up to one year or more (combat). Your career choices include infantry, armor, field artillery, chemical, military police, intelligence, aviation (helicopter) and special forces.
As a Navy officer, you will have the opportunity to serve on land or at sea. Your career choices include surface warfare, submarine warfare, aviation warfare (all types of aircraft), special warfare, supply and construction batallions (SeaBees). When assigned to sea duty, your tour of duty will last about 3 years and you will be at sea about one third to one half of that time.
You have to evaluate yourself. Do you like camping outdoors? Do you like being on a boat? I would suggest you try these activites to determine your answers before you join up.

Navy Officers have a different selection of assignments which include working at a port or on a boat or at a naval base. When you are called to go to Iraq, you will work along side Army Officers and Soldiers. Army Officers do not get to select their jobs which all over stateside and overseas. It is a different atmosphere and often Officers coming into the Army get treated as Privates (enlisted Soldiers) since they are new to the military.
Go Navy. Better travel, job positions. I am a Army Warrant Officer. So I dont get treated like the other incoming Officers because I have previous Soldier experience.

I was an officer in the Navy but I have nothing against the Army either.
In the Navy a lot depends on what you want to do. Are you going Surface, Air, Sub, Supply, etc? Check thoroughly and try to talk to people who are currently in the areas you're thinking about before you ssign anything.
Thank you for being willing to serve.

Depends on what your plans are after leave the service. Also what you plan on doing in the service. If all your going to in supplies or military police something like that then it doesn't really matter. However if you plan on being a line officer it the navy then you'll have duty on board ships. Which mean you'll have a few more opportunities.

You don't seem very educated about this. You don't start off as an officer. And don't listen to any stereotypes from people like, "Oh, the Army is better than the Navy..." etc. Just do what you would be interested in.

Well, the Navy is safer because your not actually fighting in the war, the army on the other hand does. If you weren't planning on fighting, id go for Navy.

Army. Hands down. Go Navy and you will feel regrets for the rest of your life.

uh really, only you can answer this. they are 2 totally different branches which im sure you already know about. you need to pick the service that fits you best.
army=long deployments in iraq or afghanistan
navy=shorter deployments more often, and most likely on a ship
all the other stuff is similar....do pt, go to work, go home. pay is the same as well.

On a ship you are confined for months to an around the clock schedule in a tiny place with hundreds of others. In the army, they stick you in places for awhile but eventually you leave. You feel less isolated. Which appeals to you more?
