Question about Army bonuses?

So my husband got a 20,000 dollar sign on bonus. He got a part of it last November. It is now almost the end of this November and no signs of recieving the other chunk of the bonus. Is there any way to see when he will recieve it. I checked his Mypay and AKO acount and nothing. My husband told me that he wont no until it just shows up, but i think he is just pulling my leg. So any help will be great. Thanks. Sorry if anything is mispelled

The bonus payment should show up at the end of November. If it does not, your husband can submit a pay inquiry to find out the status. Have him include a COPY of the enlistment contract, showing the bonus amount and how it is to be paid. That should get the bonus payment paid, if it does not show up at the end of November.

You must have a specific POA to deal with finance - while they SHOULD take a General POA they often won't. Hubby can get you one downrange and fax it to the base office - if you don't have one they won't deal with you. Pay screw ups are unfortunatly normal in the service - it takes lots of paperwork on your end and not much at Fort Benjamin Harrison if you owe them money. Hubby needs to talk to his Commander and the finance officer -: 1.If you were married before he joined he should have been getting paid the with dependants rate - the problem is it's only based on where he's at not where you are and they can only backpay him for six months on that now ( so he needs to take care of this asap) 2. The enlistment bonus must be in his contract and he needs to speak to the Commander and finance officer about it. He needs a memo from the Commander stating he's doing his job in his MOS for them to release it.The Commander can not keep him from getting this straightened out but it sounds like he may not know about it. Once it gets straightened out you will not get the whole bonus at once but half and then the rest prorated over his enlistment - a certain amount every year on his enlistment date. 3. The month you received a no pay due statement can also be back payed if they are found to be in error. However if hubby took casual pay, or charged things at the px you may actually not be owed it. 4. Even downrange this can be resolved but it will take longer. He may have to go to BIAP to get it done but it can get done. 5. As frustrating as this is it will get resolved eventually and you will have a nice fat paycheck! The Army's timing always seems screwy but God's is always perfect! 6. Do NOT go to the Congressman unless it's been over a year - if you can not show you've gone through all the proper channels/chain of command it won't do you any good and can cause hubby more problems. Rather talk to your Rear Detach. Commander who is a great liason for you with the unit while they are in theater. Chin up!

With most bonuses, they get the first half after they complete AIT and the rest of it is split up annually for the rest of their enlistment. There are some bonuses that are paid in a lump sum but most are split up. Also, a good chunk of that bonus will go towards taxes. I'm guessing your husband didn't tell you this about the bonus payments being split up (and if he didn't know either then he didn't read his contract).

Just look at his enlistment contract - the terms of the bonus are all in there and there isn't a one size fits all for bonuses. Some are paid lump sum, some are half up front and the rest spread out in equal amounts over the enlistment term (this is the norm for paying bonuses).

The few bonuses that I've gotten in my time have always been listed on my LES even the old LES's,

Pay is always for the month before so remember that when looking at the LES and the deposit amount.

Again Joey with the issues.... might want to get over it and move on......

When is his anniversary date? If it's in November you probably will not see it until Decembers LES which just came out last night. My husbands have always shown on his EOM LES even though the deposit might not happen at the same time it was still on the LES.

Best bet is what dark said have him contact DFAS and ask if it has been paid or is set to be paid. The number is on their website.

it depends on how you request to receive it. if you ask for lump sum you'll get it all at once. if its split up, most times you'll get part of it a few weeks after signing your contract and the other part half way through your contract. it might be awhile. and if something happens and he doesn't get it, take it up with his finance or disbursing office. i'd take another look at the paperwork he signed as that may shed some light on it as well.

You should be able to call the DFAS number located on the MyPay website and they can tell you around the date you should receive the money based on when the reenlistment/enlistment bones was processed by the recruiter/retention NCO.

Go to AKO, then go to IPerms, look for the bonus document and check the pages, it should be on page 3 (I think)
