Can you refinish prefinished wood floors?

I have Bruce flooring that has received some minor water damage. The finish has come off, but the wood looks fine. Can we just sand it down with a hand sander and reapply a clear finish? This would just be a quick temporary fix since we are looking at replacing the flooring in the whole room in a few years.

Sure, as long as it's real wood and not a laminate or veneer.

if it's prefinished you could replace the boards but it would be ok to sand the stains and a light coat of finish would be fine

the cost to refinish the room is not verry costly 2.50 sf

but to replace could be 7.00 sf

beuce makes a line of cleaners and refinishers for their floors, urethane or wax. i think you want fresh finis, but check with your lumberyard or go to the bruce web site to be sure. you shouldn't havr to go to all that.
