2009 corvette zo6 vs 2009 dodge srt-10?

The Dodge Viper will beat the corvette.

I work for a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership:

There is no such thing as a 2009 srt-10, at least it isnt referred to an srt-10 anymore.

The viper is now a Viper ZB.

Just to clear that up... anyways back to the question:

2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs 2009 Dodge Viper ZB

Corvette: 11.7 @ 125 mph

Viper: 11.5 @ 126 mph

The figures for the viper are actually those of the 2008 srt-10. The 2009 viper got a boost of something like 50 hp with no added weight, which would theoretically make a better quarter mile time.

The answer is that the Viper is just a bit faster than the Corvette, but not by a lot. Furthermore, Dodge claims that the shifts are 18% quicker than the corvette, which could explain the difference.

Notice how the speeds are almost identical, that means that they both have similar acceleration rates, because both the times and speeds are almost the same for the quarter mile.

Keep in mind that a difference of 0.2 seconds on the quarter mile may be caused by a better driver in the viper. That is always a possibility. But 1 fifth of a second might not seem by a lot, but at 120+ mph, that might represent the length of the hood of the viper.

C7S, how about answering the question, you claim that the Corvette handles better, is lighter and accelerates faster. You, however, give no facts and I highly doubt you can back those statements up (even though they might be true, i am not saying they are false.) Since when has handling helped a driver go faster in a quarter mile STRAIGHT sprint.

Here are the specs for both cars:

Corvette:

0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds

top speed of 198 mph

Viper:

0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (again this is the 2008 model, with less hp, same weight)

top speed of 209 mph

I did not find information about weight and handling.

Did you say the Corvette accelerated quicker and they had the same top speed? Maybe you should research more before spreading nonsense.

And Hunter W, saying the zr1 beats both does not answer the question. Besides the ZR1 is basically a race-tuned z06, and it is not fair to compare the stock viper and corvette z06 to a modified corvette. That being said, you are right, and the zr1 is beautiful.

I would say the Z06.

The cars have the same top speed, but the Corvette is lighter and handles better and should accelerate quicker too.
