Question on objects that could be harmful spiritually?

My friend was given a "gift" from someone who wishes him harm. The gift was inappropriate for the occasion, and the giver gave the same inappropriate gift to his mother. According to your beliefs, how would you go about getting rid of the object (made of wax), and cleansing your home of any bad intentions/spirits/spells/etc that may be attached to it?

I'm thinking of adapting some Pagan rituals to better reflect our beliefs (hermetic/Kabbalah/Alchemic), but would like some other ideas.

Blessings,

Kate

Update:

LOL@ the first answer. The gentleman in question has two rooms in his home dedicated to books, and owns more books (mostly on religion and spirituality) than anyone else I know. I was asking what YOU would do, so that I might get some ideas besides the ones I have read. But thanks for playing!

Unless the person who gave your friend the object is *really* slick, chances are that the item is still the "anchor" - that anything bad about it is still centered on the item itself. So, a lot of the displosal is going to involve destroying the item.

My fav for cleansing is fire, especially when dealing with an object you'd like to destroy. It being made of wax makes it that much better a choice. Anything from a fireplace to a little hibachi grill should work.

Just break it (so no one else can use it) and throw it away. It's pure trash. Then thank God for His love and protection, and ask Him for His blessings over your home and family. Done. Don't give it any more significance than that. The object is only as important as you make it. That's what I did with the Ouiji board I found in the attic of my new house.

    Throw it out. Simple as.

You should then clean the house as symbolic of your intentions and either perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram or if you are more orientated towards Christian ritual you can perform an exorcism.

Cleansing your home of evil spirits and bad spells?

You know an object that's not harmful? It's called a book.

Do you really believe what you have asked? If so the bible would be a good reference.
