How do I switch my operating system from vista to xp?

I just got a new laptop and it came with windows vista....but its obviously slowing down my computer. I'd like to switch my OS to vista, if its not too difficult. I'm pretty good with computers so I might be able to handle it if there's not too much to do.

You need to get an XP install disk and license. Unfortunately they do not officially sell them any more, but you can often buy them from stockpiles computer stores have or get a special "downgrade" disk from MS. I haven't really looked into the latter, and I'm not sure how easy it is to do.

Anyway, you can just install XP normally, and there should be some detailed guides on how to do this if you get stuck. It will erase everything currently on your hard drive, so make sure to back up user files and gather all of the licenses for software you bought. Another issue is that some computers are not fully compatible with XP because new device drivers have not been written. I would look around to see if anyone has tried it with your model of laptop and what kind of results they had.
