Swapping in a stick in a Crown Vic?

Will be getting a Crown Vic next month, this will be my 5th I've owned but I always wanted to put a stick shift from a Mustang in one. I know that the tranny will bolt up and I will need to make so mods to the pedals to mount a clutch pedal, cut a hole in the floor for the shifter, modify the cross member. My only question is what about the wiring? The auto has more wires and is somewhat computer controlled so what will happen if some of the wires are left unhooked? Anyone have experience with this? Also the Crown Vic will be year 2000 or newer. Thanks!

Update:

Yeah, to Ronnie the wrench. I'm actually a mechanic and I worked in a transmission shop and have installed more transmission probably then you have ever seen, I admit this is an unusual swap and that is why I need the info on it and also one of my reasons for wanting to do it.

Update 2:

Don't need to smog since I'm in Canada, you think maybe I can just put the computer from the Mustang in the Crown Vic or will that affect something else? I can live with the engine light on or a few codes but so long as the car runs proper.

I saw an older one (98?) for sale in Hamilton Ontario Canada with this swap. You'll need the computer from the Mustang as well as some other parts (flywheel, pedals, part of the wiring harness etc.). You'll need to fab up a cross member and maybe start with the Crown Vic's or Mustang's. Try to find someone who has already done the swap before on a Ford website. I also saw one on Youtube. I don't know which shifter you need but some aftermarket shifters and or adapter plates allow you to move the shifter location around (the one I saw for sale had a T handle Hurst shifter that wasn't positioned right). You'll also need to reprogram the computer to correct the speedometer and odometer because of different gear ratios on the overdrive gears from the automatic to the 5 speed stick. Or if you use the Mustang computer and your Crown Vic has different rear axel ratio from the Mustang.

Wow,I'd love to be able to help you with this one. That sounds like a great project and I'd like to see it done. This company http://www.keislerauto.com/ should be able to help you. They make 5 and 6 speed conversion kits for Ford/GM/Dodge and have been featured in Car Craft/Hot Rod magazine. Good Luck!
