How often do you contribute to charities, and what is your religious belief / lack thereof?

Of course everyone has different financial situations, but I'm curious. On average, how often do you support a group or charity, and what is your religious / spiritual belief system or lack thereof?

Not church tithing or anything of that sort -- but actual charities. For instance, food to a food bank, buying something from a fundraiser, a benefit dinner, or even volunteering for a non-profit organization.

Regular donations and purchases to/from the local SPCA thrift store, at least one trip per month, with +/- 25.00 purchased.

$15-$20 at school fundraisers, 2-3 times per year

All cell phones get donated as soon as the contract can be renewed (1 time every 2 years)

All eyeglasses get donated when replaced (once per year).

I regularly give to the disease research charities like cancer research UK, but not always i usually donate my spare change in the supermarket to the person who stands outside the shop regardless of what they're shaking at me. I see it as more of an investment than anything else, like hopefully in a few years time when i get cancer or whatever i'll think well at least i tried... i also donate my old stuff to charities... but im very poor so this doesn't happen often. oh yeah and im an aethiest

I don't keep track of it but in the past month or so I've donated a crock pot and some sleeping bags to a ministry that helps the homeless and 50 pounds of rice and some clothing to a ministry that is helping out low income people before Thanksgiving and today I donated a CDplayer and a couple of guitars and an amp to a ministry that goes to juvenile hall to teach the Bible to wayward teens.

I do not like to speak on what I do, but mostly I go through my Church. We have a food bank and help out other groups in need. We also take the spirits lead and help in other ways. My work place had a food drive for "The Jesus House" and we participated. When groups call wanting something we help out when we can or desire.

I donate regularly to the local animal shelter, food bank, Red Cross. I also donate my time to driving the home-bound infrim to doctor's appointments and shopping trips into town on nice days. I donate to my community through various events with both my money and my time. I regularly visit the sick in the hospital in my role as a Wiccan Priest and counselor as well as to inmates at our local county jail. I also serve on my local town board for ZERO pay per year (OK, $1/Year, big deal, they have to show that SOMETHING has been paid to me)

I am a green Witch and Wiccan

    Brightest Blessings,

I feed the homeless twice a month on weekends. It's in a tiny old church that isn't used as a church anymore. I give them 20 dollars a week towards food. The best part...is the appreciation.

Frequently volunteer both time and money to local animal shelters and rescue groups. Occasionally donate money/food/clothing to local people shelters and food banks. Pagan.

  • I don't like donating money to charities. Instead I donate my time, and I do it frequently.

[edit:] I can't give you an exact amount of time because it random but it's usually once or twice a week.

I support feeding the homeless, and helping them get back on their feet and reentry into society, and doing the same for criminals, feeding the hungry, providing counseling for those who can't afford it, helping young mothers, providing shelter for the homeless. Providing clothing for those who have none, or for those who need nice clothes for interviews

OOPS! Just noticed that you don't want answers involving tithing.
