I don't think one should comment on which is better unless they are familiar with both types of movies. Also, just because 50% of the world watches bollywood doesn't make it better. I watch movies from about 5-6 different languages, and when it comes to quality, Hindi is actually one of the least original. In my opinion, as far as upholding the indian culture, tamil movies do a better job, as the main hero/heroine never steps out of the traditional indian views on certain issues. However Tamil movies make up for that in ''item numbers,'' as their songs have some of the most vulgar/suggestive lyrics. Hindi movies, on the other hand, are trying so hard to become "modern." I am not saying being modern is a bad thing. However, hindi movies do not bring originality to this progress into a modern culture. They're merely imitators; all Hindi movies do is copy some popular English movie and indianize it. I think that is just ridiculous because most north indians already watch english movies; so why do they need to remake it in their language? Some examples include the latest movies like Partner (Hitch), The Killer (Collateral), etc. etc. Some movies just blatantly steal English movie scenes like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge and Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. There are so many examples that I might take a day to list them all. In short, as far as being conservative, Tamil movies have the upperhand. Tamil movies are similar to Telugu movies in values/traditional outlook, etc. However, Malayalam movies are much more conservative and also have some of the most original stories and talented acting. However, their actors are known for their old age and unfit physique. Actresses, on the other hand, are pretty, and they usually transgress on to other languages. --btw, what is this question intended for? Some type of essay?

Sixth,Ek vivah aisa bhi-social pretty movie.
