Happy Thanksgiving wishes plus Baseball question. Now that CitiBank is screwed should they rename->?

Citifield? How about calling it Taxpayer Field since we the Taxpayer is bailing Citibank out? Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Update:

I think Jackie Robinson Field would be a good idea salty. Maybe even the new Shea.

You raise a great point. I've never liked the idea of sponsorships having their name plastered all over major league ballparks. As great as Citizen Band Park is in Philadelphia, you'd think they could have come up with something more "baseballish". (My new word for the day).

Now is a great opportunity to get baseball back in the minds of the fans. We see enough advertising every single day. Why must we be beat over the head with it when we're at a game?

Happy Turkey Day to you too Scooter! Hang in there, better days are coming.

  • Either Mets Field or back to Shea Stadium.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving Scooter!

They need to rename the ballpark like they did in Houston. Enron field became Minute maid park. If citibank is in such dire straights they have no business paying out money to name a ballpark.

I saw the PTI guys debating this last night. Because of the nightmare that Citi is facing, they should rename the field. I don't really know what they should rename it though. Happy Thanksgiving!

since I am probably the only Met fan that will answer, if the goverment bails it out, the Mets will have to find a new sponsor, or make thier own name. If Citi is bought, this is what the name will end up being-

    JP Morgan Chase Field ....lolz

What I don't get is how they are still paying for naming rights when they are being bailed out. So taxpayers pay for the Citi bank execs to have nice suites to see Mets games? it's ridiculous. They should n't have anyuthing to do with naming rights since they're not paying for anything.

They should either name it Shea (again) or I might even talk to some of the ex-greats of the Mets and see what they think. I'm leaning towards Shea.
