First time flyer needs help.?

Okay so I'm getting on my first airplane in a month. I'm traveling from Pittsburgh, PA to Portland, ME. I have a connecting flight in Washington, DC, I was wondering if I'll have to go through security again in DC or if I can go to the connecting flight gate.

Any help would be great! :)

Update:

Btw, I'm flying by myself so I'm a little freaked out. :(

You will be just fine, nothing to worry about. If you are confused about where to go, just find someone with an airport badge and ask them. They should be able to point you in the right direction. As for security, you will only go through security once, in Pittsburgh....unless you decide to step out of security for some reason...then you would have to go through again.

You don't have to go through security a second time unless you leave the DC airport or if you're on an international flight. You're obviously not on an international flight, and I don't recommend leaving the airport unless your layover is longer than 5 hours. Pittsburgh to Portland is a relatively short flight. Bring your iPod/mp3 player, a book, and a magazine.

Bella, you just need to go to your next gate. Do not go out of the secured area as there is no need for you to do so. Just check the TV monitor to see what the gate is for your connecting flight. Just go to the gate.

aw dont be scared!! :) the security there is so over the top there is no possible way anything can happen to you, plus the pilot knows what theyre doing, so theres really nothing to worry about. and no you wont have to go to security again you just go straight to the gate

Most of the time, when you go thru security once, you won't need to again unless... your a smoker and go outside(such as in Dallas). As long as you stay inside the airport area around the gates and such, you won't need to go thru security again. I used to travel internationally alot.

if you will not leave the transit area you won't go through security again, if you think of leaving then you will get through security again :D
