Can't seem to figure out the GPA calculation...?

So I've looked through all the previous questions and can't seem to figure out how to calculate my GPA! So any help would be appreciated!

Background info: I am a college student, Humanities "major" obviously not math..teehee. And have done 11 courses at 3 credits per course. My current semester is another 3 courses also at 3 credits per course.

So my current GPA is 3.39 and my goal is a minimum of 3.7 to qualify for an University entrance bursary.

My question is..how many A's would I need to reach my goal?

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

    (3.39 * 20 credits + 4.0 * x credits ) / (20+x) = 3.7 where x is the number of credits of A you need to get your GPA up that high

    3.39 * 20 + 4.0 * x = 3.7 * 20 + 3.7 * x

    4.0 * x - 3.7 * x = 3.7 * 20 - 3.39 * 20

    x = (3.7 * 20 - 3.39 * 20) / 0.3

    x = 20.666

    You need 21 credits of A's (that's 7 classes at 3 credits per class) and no more B's to get your GPA up to a 3.7.

    So what you have now is a 3.39 GPA over 33 semester hours (11 x 3).

    You're taking nine hours and want a 3.7 -- can't be done in nine hours. You'd need a 4.84 on those nine hours to get to 3.7

    To get from where you are to a 3.7, you need 35 hours of classes at 4.0. That'd be 12 more classes - of which you're now taking 3. That's assuming you can hold a 4.0 through all of them.

    You can never achieve a 3.7 if your average GPA doesn't stay above a 3.7 - that's just how the math works.

    With a 3.39 freshman GPA, graduating with a 3.5 will be an accomplishment to be proud of.

    To do this math the easy way - Google for "GPA calculator" and most of those will do the math for you. Otherwise we're looking at a little algebra like Eri showed us and we liberal arts types just don't tend to do well with that.
