Why is it that the University of Cincinnati Bearcats get no attention?

The Cincinnati Bearcats have secured themselves a bowl bid in either the Orange or Sugar bowl by proving themselves the best team in the Big East conference, yet none of the (sports) writers seem to care enough to display so much as a congratulatory note. Will the unkown schools ever get to be heard from or are we doomed to only read about USC and Florida for the rest of our lives?

    1. ESPN/ABC is trying to build up hype for the Big 12 champ game, which just happens to televised by ABC

    2. CBS is trying to build up hype for the SEC champ game, which will air on CBS

    3. Fox Sports is building up Oregon St since they have a contract with the Pac 10... they want USC in a BCS bowl OTHER THAN the Rose (ABC carries the Rose, Fox has all other BCS games)

It all comes down to $$$$$$$$$$$$... in the form of TV Ratings

Sports writers do the dirty work... they are just sheep

There you have it, its because its the Big East Conference, since the big east considered itself a bcs conference team miami, virginia tech and boston college all have up and left to the acc. weakenin the big east, cincinnati is a good team and yes are goin to a bcs bid, but florida and usc are doin somethin UC isnt, contendin for the national championship, one loss team. you saw the kind of attention the big east had last year when 3 teams were at some point ranked 1st or 2nd in the nation west virginia, rutgers and south florida all did that last year. cinnci has yet to get into the spot light.

The problem is that the Big East is having a really bad year. People are questioning if they should get an automatic BCS bowl bid.

The MWC is better this year and when a non BCS conference can claim they are better something has gone incredibly wrong.

Seriously congratulations to Cincinnati but any other year the level of talent and play they are showing would be good for the middle of the league.

Other none big conference teams are getting attention this year,Utah, Boise State, Ball State, TCU so it is not like the top teams get ALL the attention.

P.S. Oregon State is getting about the same attention Cincinnati is and they are in the same situation.

West Virginia lost to Pittsburgh, which makes Cincinnati the Big East Champion with the opportunity to play in the Orange Bowl.

I am not surprised by the lack of attention although they are a good team with a quality coach. I watched them in the Birmingham Bowl in 2007 against Southern Mississippi and thought they would win the Big East title this year.

Congrats to Cincinnati. The lack of attention is caused by the fact the medocrity of the conference.

Because of the perceived mediocrity of the conference. Which is too bad, as I'm a fan of the smaller, underdogs school reaching great heights.

To the one dude, I think Oregon State is getting more attention than Cincinatti because many of us are LOLing at USC because of them.

Cincy is a damn good team. A lot of people hate Oklahoma because they are the most successful program. A good team like Cincy gets beat by Oklahoma, and the haters will come out and trash you. Sad but true. I like your uniforms also.

Oh did you say the Bearcats, I thought you said Bengals, hey we actually got one wrong.

UC is a basketball school, always will be. Ohio is Buckeye country for football. Every other school is an also ran. Besides, Have you ever seen Nippert Stadium? My high schools' was nearly that size. When I was a student at UC, they couldn't give away tickets. The only time anyone was at Nippert was when there wasn't a game and the students used it as a park.

because the Big East is down this year...in the past when teams like Louisville, West Virginia, Rutgers, and South Florida were in the top 10 most of the year people thought the Big East was a powerhouse...or becoming one...

now, Cincinnati wins the Big East?...they haven't proven themselves over a length of time...maybe they are legit...but...I'm a Big East team fan...and I think they will get whipped in their BCS game...

bearcats arent all that good. i was at the pitt game and you didnt win. pitt lost the game with all the penalties

no one writes about them because no one wants to read about them. this is the first year ever that they have been decent. why would someone read about cinci when they could read about one of the other power house football teams that are actually good.
