  • 12-0 Ohio or 11-1 Boise State for BCS at large?

    NOT SAYING IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!

With no Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 in the polls that count towards the BCS (Ohio State not eligible) a none BCS team only has to get to 16 in the BCS poll which should be attainable for Ohio and Boise State if they win out.

    Boise talking points:

Boise State currently ahead 5 spots in the Harris and 8 in the Coaches. Boise State also has a tougher strength of schedule to finish out.

    Ohio talking points:

    Senior QB

    UNDEFEATED!

Note: Louisiana Tech gets the nod if they win out no matter what, so its not worth mentioning in this what if scenario.

  • Do you think the referee from the Netherlands vs Denmark game will be suspended?

Simply horrifying piece of officiating for the last ten minutes. Missed hand ball in the box, many questionable play ons. Unfortunately many people who were watching the ESPN broadcast had to listen to colour commentators that were trying to not stoke the flames of controversy so I don't expect many Americans to know what I am talking about.

    Congratulations Denmark

  • After the Maaco bowl massacre, does anybody still think Boise shouldn't have been in a BCS bowl?

Excluding Craig James of course LoL

The Sugar bowl snub already was one of the most controversial snubs in BCS history (#7 Boise State sat on the sidelines while #11 and #14 get in). The usual strength of schedule argument went flying out the window when Virginia Tech got in despite beating zero top 25 teams and losing by double digits to Clemson twice. Also Boise's only loss was to a team ranked in the final poll while having its top running back (projected nfl draft pick), top defensive lineman(projected NFL draft pick) and top 5 corner backs on the sidelines.

The temptation to rant is overwhelming LoL

Long story short, does anybody out thier honestly believe Boise should not have got into a BCS bowl and MOST IMPORTANTLY why?

  • Do you think UCLA rehires Rick Neuheisel if they win the PAC 12 Title game?

Its hard to justify firing a coach for bad performance when he takes UCLA to the Rose Bowl.

Note: He is coaching in the PAC 12 Title game but not any games after that as it stands.

  • If Alabama wins by one score do you think a split national title could happen this year?

Keep in mind that the AP Poll is just as valid as the BCS Title according to the NCAA.

  • Why do people want Alabama to be in the BCS Championship game?

    Alabama facts:

-Only has beat 3 teams with winning records.

-Lost at home to the team they are projected to play in the final in OT.

    Oklahoma State facts:

-Lost to Iowa State in OT (I know that is horribly but the next fact makes up for it, if we are talking body of work)

-Has more wins against the top 25 (four) than Alabama does against teams with winning records. A win this weekend against Oklahoma would make it 5.

-A win this weekend and they will have 7 wins against winning teams

    Stanford facts:

    -Got pounded by Oregon

-Barely got by USC in OT but that win looks better by the day.

-Has beat 5 teams with winning records

    Boise State facts:

-Shockingly high SOS index rating (people are reading the names of the teams they are playing and not actually seeing how well those teams are doing)

    - Has beat 7 teams who are currently having winning seasons

    - Lone loss was to a ranked team at home on a missed field goal with their starting all conference 1000 yard rushing running back out, the all american defensive lineman who is captain of the defense out and the 6th string cornerback starting

    Virginia Tech:

    - Horrible schedule but a win this weekend and they avenge their only loss

    - Unfortunately a win this weekend and they will knock the only team currently in the top 25 on their schedule out of the top 25

  • Does UCLA have the most to gain or lose in a single game in the history of NCAA Football next weekend?

Win they go to the Rose Bowl, lose they don't go bowling at all.

  • Why is Stanford at #4 in the AP Poll?

Stanford is a top 10 team but being #4 seems silly. Stanford has beat 1 team with more than 6 wins this year (No that is not a typo). The Cardinals also have failed to impress in their only 2 games against the top 25 with a triple OT win and getting demolished at home.

Does Oklahoma State's loss in OT to a team that is about as good as Cal (A team Stanford barely snuck by this weekend in a dramatic 3 point win) while being undefeated against the top 25 teams make them worse than Stanford?. The computers have OK State still at #2.... they have played a much better schedule.

Virginia Tech, has a resume much like Stanford's. Major loss to a current 2 loss team that is in the top 25 and a victory over another top 25 team. Virginia Tech's schedule feels like its a little bit deeper than Stanford's and the computers agree with that but the problem is that the ACC perception is costing them votes. Voters are looking at the name of the teams they are playing not the quality.

Boise State, has done better than Stanford against top 25 teams this year. A missed field goal loss to a top 25 at home (With the preseason all conference starting running back out, the practice squad's corner backs starting and 2nd team all American DT on the sidelines) and a demolition win over another top 25 team on the road. Boise State's schedule is the definition of reading the names on the jersey's instead of looking at how well they are doing. The computers have them in front of Stanford for a reason, Boise has beat the current 1st place team (or tied for 1st place) in the MAC, WAC (has played less games but is projected to tie for 1st), CUSA and the SEC East so far this season.

Houston has played nobody and is ranked #11 by the computers for a reason. The best team Houston plays this year (Tulsa) is going to be the 4th hardest team Boise played, the 7th hardest Oklahoma State played and the #8 hardest Oklahoma played. I am not sold BUT the important thing worth noting here is that if you are going to reward Stanford for smashing cupcakes (and sometimes struggling) than why not reward a team that DIDN'T lose by 23 points at home?

Heck, if we are getting down to it. Oklahoma is ahead of Stanford in the computers by a long shot because they have played a WAY tougher schedule but I understand them behind them because losing to Texas Tech. Even more so, is Oregon's loss to USC on a missed field goal so bad that it makes them lower than Stanford (Stanford needed triple OT to beat USC and was losing late in the game). Do you really blame Oregon for losing to LSU?

Long story short college football is a mess this year but does anybody have a reason why the AP is in love with Stanford?

P.S. I actually like Stanford but this was a pleasant surprise that was REALLY unexpected.

  • Who goes to the BCS Title game if this happens?

First off I am not saying that this will happen but its a scenario that could happen.

Virginia Tech losses to Virginia or Clemson (ACC Title game) - VT has already lost to Clemson once this year and Virginia is having a amazing year. The Virginia game is for the division title as well.

LSU beats Arkansas and wins SEC. - According to Vegas this is the most likely scenario.

Alabama losses to Auburn.- Bama had a hard time with a FCS this weekend and that doesn't look good when your preparing for the Iron Bowl.

Stanford losses to Notre Dame. - Lets be honest, Oregon exposed Stanford. If Cal can almost knock you off then Notre Dame should have a good shot.

Oklahoma knocks off Oklahoma State - The Sooners on paper are still the better team and since both teams lost to inferior teams this weekend, its still the defacto Big 12 title game.

  • If LSU losses to Georgia....?

Does being a conference champion as an unwritten rule go out the window (yes I realize they went in the past but its frowned upon now)?

Does this open the window for none conference champs a Stanford (needs help), LSU, Alabama or a Boise State (needs help) as well?

  • Rank the losses of the 1 loss teams in NCAA Foootball?

Note: Rank the loss NOT the team. Take into account everything not just how good the team they played was

    .

    Listed alphabetically:

Alabama- Lost to LSU by 3 in OT

Arkansas - Took a 24 point beat down at Alabama.

Boise State - Lost to TCU by 1 point on a missed field goal.

Clemson - Got manhandled by Georgia Tech 31-17 (was down 31-10) but its a triple option team.

Oklahoma - Lost to Texas Tech by 3 points (was down 31-7). Rain delayed game.

Oklahoma State - Lost to Iowa State in OT.

Oregon - 13 point loss to LSU but it was in a LSU heavy neutral site and they scored the most against LSU this year

Stanford - Absolutely demolished by Oregon in a 23 point loss.

Virginia Tech - 3 score loss to Clemson

  • Do you take a 1 loss Alabama in a rematch over Boise State?

Lets start with the assumption for this what if, that Stanford and Oklahoma State both lose a game. Alabama and Boise State are not getting in over an undefeated BCS Conference Champ.

    Key wins:

Alabama - Arkansas, Auburn, Penn State

Boise State - Georgia, TCU, Air Force (Triple Option wild card team)

    Key losses:

Alabama - Lost to LSU at home while not scoring a touchdown, the only team LSU held to less points was a FCS team BUT to be fair LSU was equally inadequate on offense against the Tide. Georgia Southern, though technically not a loss and most likely a massive blowout, any team that chooses to schedule a FCS team should have that game counted as a loss. To be clear if they had a game cancellation or if they didn't have every team begging to play them this would be excusable.

Boise State - Boise didn't schedule any cream puffs but they do have a weaker conference schedule than most BCS conferences outside MAYBE the Big East. If the BCS lovers are right and the regular season is a playoff, than you need to lose to be eliminated (No such thing as a win every game and you lose playoff). So if we had to assign Boise State a loss it would be, not being invited to join a BCS conference earlier LOL

Something you probably didn't know about each team:

Alabama - Can still win the SEC West if Arkansas defeats LSU. It would come down to the team with the highest BCS ranking to get in since they would be in a 3 way tie. LSU losing at home on the last weekend would probably bump Alabama past them.

Boise State - According to the Sagarin rating system (the most commonly used SOS index) Boise State actually had a tougher SOS than Alabama or Stanford going into last weekend. Ironically the reason Alabama didn't plummet in the computer rankings after the loss was because the game against LSU bumped their SOS up so much that it offset the loss (Going 8-1 against a top 25 schedule is about equal to going 8-0 against a schedule that barely broke the top 40).

    Questions to ask yourself:

Do you really put a team that already lost to the LSU at home back into a rematch at LSU (BCS Title Game is in Louisiana)?

Do you really put a non AQ in the finals!?!?!

Is winning your conference a requirement in the supposedly reformed BCS? (Much has been made of the debate on whether you should have to win your conference, let alone division to get a shot at the National Championships).

  • Is #7 Arkansas vs #9 South Carolina the most overlooked top 10 match up you can remember?

    *I used the BCS rankings.*

When is the last time two top ten teams have played, both are still technically alive in their conference race and national title race but the game is not on network TV.

    Storylines for the game:

South Carolina needs to win to stay ahead in the SEC East race. I know the knee jerk reaction is to dismiss them from BCS Title game contention BUT if they defeat Arkansas and win out including winning the SEC Title game over the LSU/Alabama game, the media will pretty much be forced to put a 12-1 SEC Champion into the Title game.

Arkansas needs this win to stay in SEC West Title race. Laugh all you want but if Arkansas can win out and LSU wins against Alabama then Arkansas probably gets the nod to go to the SEC Title game. It works like this, if Arkansas/LSU/Alabama win out LSU will go into the final weekend at #1, Alabama 3 or 4 and Arkansas 4 or 5. Arkansas beats # 1 on the last weekend which in theory should put them in the 2 or 3 range, Alabama should move up a spot to a 2 or 3 while LSU losing to a top 6 team late in the season is not falling past 4. Insert a fist fight when the BCS polls come out, because in that scenario the BCS polls will be the tie breaker.

Long story short both teams are top 10 both teams either control their own destiny or are pretty close to it but have you heard anybody talking about this game?

  • What is your personal new top 10 in NCAA Football and why?

Just for note.... if you live under a rock. Clemson and Kansas State both suffered blow out losses. Stanford escaped USC in triple OT, a bit of a controversy has arose due to the ref bumbling the video replay in the last second which would have given USC a field goal chance. Arkansas to rally past VANDERBILT in the 4th quarter to win by 3 points. Wisconsin lost in the last minute to Ohio State. Nebraska ran over Michigan State. Virginia Tech barely got by Duke with a 4 point win. South Carolina had a one score win over Tennessee. Texas Tech (yes the Tech team that knocked off Oklahoma on the road) was destroyed by Iowa State. Houston was losing 17-7 to Rice before they stromed back for a blow out win (thursday).

Good luck everybody because I bet everybody's 5-10 is completely different while the top 5 should be all the same teams in different order.

  • If Kellen Moore wins out he will have 51 wins, is that a record that will never be broken?

We are talking a 12.75 wins per season as a QB. Even if the season turns into a disaster (Boise losses to TCU, SDSU and losses its bowl) he will still be at 48 wins.

Few records are considered unbreakable in sports Wayne Gretzky's 212, Cal Ripkens 2,632 played straight, ETC.

  • If Georgia or South Carolina wins the SEC?

If Georgia or South Carolina wins the SEC, who do you send to the BCS Title Game?

Lets say at least 2 of the Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Boise State and Stanford group are still undefeated.

I am asking if you do still send a SEC team and if so who?
