How good will my chances of getting into UCLA be?
I'm only a sophomore right now, but I really want to go to UCLA. Here's my info:
I live in California, I'm Hispanic.
So far, I'm in my first honors class, but there are only two honors classes for sophomores at my private Christian high school.
I plan to take 3 APs junior and senior year.
Freshman year I got a 3.86; I was in a Bible study club, Interact club, while riding horses competatively.
I started volunteering at a hospital in the summer between fresh and soph year, I will have about 500 hours by the end of high school.
Sophomore year- started international culture club and am president, president of CSF for sophomore class, NHS, and am a small group leader.
GPA- 3.8 unweighted/4.0 weighted so far...
i'm interested in majoring in biology and having a medical career.
how does everything look?
any suggestions?
OH! I forgot! National English Honors Society- sophomore year

it looks great to me. remember to keep those grades up and stick with all of your extracurriculars. you will want to get some paid work experience in and score at least a 2050 on the sat (mid 600s on each sub-category) or a 30 on the act with writing. plus you will need to take 2 sat subject tests. being hispanic will definitely help you out. when you apply, they will ask you what awards and honors you have won so start a resume to keep track of everything. if you score really high on your psat in your junior year (210 or above) then you can become a national merit scholar which will be very impressive. there are test prep classes (free and reduced price too) available sometimes through your school or through websites of companies like princeton review and kaplan (you can search for what is in your area). i highly recommend these because they have techniques which help you to boost your scores a lot. you can start writing your essays the summer of your senior year because the prompts do not change much from year to year. good luck!

Wow, looks good so far, you might want a higher GPA for UCLA but since your hispanic, im not so sure that even matters. The fact that you are president in a club and for CSF is very good too, they buy that leadership stuff alot. But anyways looks good so far, just make sure not to slip next year, junior is really hard, its alot harder than sophomore year, courses-wise. Good luck though! hope you get in.

Looks good so far. If you keep the 3.8 until you graduate, and have good SAT scores, you have a good chance of getting in.
PS UCLA does not give preference to minorities.

If you are hispanic--you are in for sure, no matter what!
They give preference to minorities.
