Do you think im abusing my cat with a name?

When i found my kitten it was outside and you could tell the mother was not around to take care of him any longer so i took him in and when i did i noticed he was very dirty and not clean from behind if you know what i mean. So i thought it would be cute to name him Poop. So that s his name my mom thinks its mean and embarresing when he has to go to the vet. I still think its a cat not my baby..animal names are suppose to be out there and diffrent i love the cat and i think the name should stay...he responds to it already too.

I doubt it affects the kitten at all.

It does, however, say something about you. And it really says something about you, that you are ignoring your mother's request.

Animal names are not "supposed" to be out there. They *can* be out there. They can be cutesy. They can be crude. They can be literary. They can be classic. They can be simple. They can be fantastical. They *can* be whatever their owners want them to be.

But they really do say something about the people who come up with them.

No, of course not! You can name a cat any darned thing you want. You can give a male a girl's name. It just doesn't matter.

I personally think it would be funny, ESPECIALLY at the vet's office. I once considered naming a cat Mommy or Daddy because I think it would be a hoot to have the vet come out and say "Mommy?"

It's not a pretty name and wouldn't be my choice but your cat could care less.

Sounds like the name is more of a problem for your mom than for you or the cat. If he's already responding to his name, then so be it. You could always modify it when you're feeling affectionate -- call him Poopster, Poopmeister, Little Poop. My husband used to have a dog whose name was Pooper. Apparently the dog suffered no psychological trauma.

oh my. it is damaging. i actual haven't any clue to in spite of if or no longer the ex can legally take ur cat, What i could do is board the cat at a vet workplace or puppy inn till the roommate has moved. Then i could replace the locks and alarm code if mandatory. Heck, u could even bypass so a procedures as to get a restraining order on the ex, that somewhat will save kitty secure and grant u discourse if destiny issues hsould arise after the roomie has moved out. appropriate needs to you and the kitteh!

Well the cat wont care, it doesn't speak english, but don't you think it will be a little embarrassing to YOU when you go to the vet and tell the veterinarian the cats name. I would go with something that doesn't have to do with bodily functions.

It's fine as long as your prepared for some strange looks when you have to go to the vet's! Perhaps you could give him a nickname that sounds like it, but isn't so strange. Like Pooh (like Pooh bear- Winnie the Pooh)

if he responds to it then keep it...it doesnt offend the cat in the slightest

make sure you take him to the vet and if people ask say its short for something and make up a stupid posh name (like they do with pedigree dogs) like my fellas old dog "jess" pedigree name is Black Fly Jessibles.

As long as your the one who has to take him to the vet and answer when they call for "Poop", I suppose you are setting yourself up for more embarrasment that the cat.

It will not offend him, but it might embarrass you and the staff giving him a name like that. Come on, be a little more creative and more thought.
