Cations...Anions...What???

I have an assignment in Chemistry. I've done all of it except this one part. It asks for the cations and anions. This is what I get:

Cations are the positive ones

Anions are the negative.

Now I don't know if I am doing this right because my teacher did not explain at all.

For Iron Oxide (Fe O ) or (Fe2 O3) Can't use sub...

when it's Fe is 3+ and O is 2-

Is it Cations: 3+

Anions: 2-

?

    cations would be 3+ and anions would be 2-

    Fe=cation

    O=anion

    cations are metals

    anions are nonmetals
