Abortion Question: What do you do...?

...when a fetus survives an abortion, and is born alive? Would you have them finish the job, outside the womb?

It would be an abominable act to "finish the job." The thing that really bothers me is who are we to determine when a fetus becomes a living human being and able to escape abortion? How does a president, judge, lawyer, or member of Congress determine when a life begins. Many doctor are at odds in regards to when a fetus becomes a "human." If they can't make up their minds who are we to make that determination?

For Christians who support abortion, ask yourself the question---"What would Jesus do or say about this?

I am a Christian and against abortion full stop. I believe in the sanctity of life.

But let us pretend that there is no God and no real morality. What is the big deal because morality would just be a social fabrication and it would simply be about survival of the fittest? What is the difference between a child in the womb and a child out of the womb? Maybe the difference is because you can hear a baby cry outside the womb but you cannot hear the screams of a baby being cut up inside the womb. And they do cut the baby up.

My answer is I have never gotten into that type of situation, where I was going to have an abortion, so this doesn't apply to me. I have however, gone through failed birth control and grew up in foster care and adoption. I would NOT recommend the latter for anyones kid. I fully support being a parent for the child you helped create. Personally, I can only answer for myself. I am not you, and have never been in your shoes so I will never know what you are going through. I will never judge something I know nothing about.

I believe abortion is ok in the first trimester, but am totally against partial birth abortion, that's just outright murder! There isn't anything that could cause the mother harm in having the baby alive, killing it just before it is born in no way could save a mother's life, it's a lie! The baby is still being born, dead or alive, so how could killing it save the Mother? IT'S a TOTAL LIE!

They can not finish the job once the baby draws breath. If the child lives and the mother doesn't want it, it is put up for adoption. Yes, the mother can decide to keep a baby after trying to abort it.

It's called a partial birth abortion, in it they suck the brain out of the fetus. Not pleasant. Though, if the baby is born full term, then no. I don't think it's legal, and it would be killing a baby.

Morganie: Get off it. Just because he voted against it, doesn't mean that he feels that you should kill a baby who didn't die during the abortion, but do you think the mother would care anyway, even though she just tried to off her baby?

What are Abortion questions doing in religion? It's a medical procedure and only the parties involved (woman and doctor) should decide. Neither church nor state should stick their noses into what sane well informed people choose to do with their own bodies.

Federal law prohibits the practice so its sort of a moot point (and did when Obama voted on it). The VAST majority of abortions are vacuum evacuation in the first trimester.

Outside of the womb abortion is called murder.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like the best case scenario is that baby would barely be described as "alive". So what is the point of giving medical attention to a baby is dying and brain dead? It sort of seems like getting medical attention to an egg after it is cracked and on the frying pan.
