Please help me to find written material online about noise laws concerning dogs?
There is a dog in the neighborhood that barks from sunrise to sunset with a few quiet intervals in between. Just when you think that the dog has been taken inside, the barking starts back up. Since my nearby neighbors won't do anything about it and it annoys me then I want to handle it in the right manner with written material so the neighbor will realize that they are violating a noise law. I know the law exists but don't know where to find it so I thought I would ask my Yahoo community for help. Thanks!

You need to call your city office and ask for a copy of the ordinance. Its public information, they'll be glad to copy it for you, you might have to pay for the copies. My city office charges 25 cents a page.
All city ordinances are different in what they define as nuisance barking. Here nuisance barking is defined as barking for intervals of 3 minutes with less than 1 minute of quiet in between.

Laws differ city to city, but if you go to your city's library/town hall then you should be able to look up the local ordinances concerning noise pollution and pets.
Also have you tried confronting your neighbor with the noisy dog? Try doing that but make sure you do it in a polite way as people tend to get upset when you bring up members of their family, including pets. Remember though that it is not the dogs fault that it is barking, its the owners fault for not training or meeting the needs of their pet. The dog doesn't know any better because it hasn't been taught.
Good luck resolving problem!

Every community has its own nuisance laws, like lawnmowers at certain hours of the day, barking dogs, loud stereos. Check your city's website for local ordinances and laws. You might have to do a lot of reading to find it. Your state may also have nuisance laws on the books. If all else fails, stop by your local police department or city hall and ask them if they have it in writing somewhere. Your city hall should have a copy of all of those laws on hand.

Every locality is different, so go to your local officials for the material you need. Or look up "local ordinances *your town*".
