  • Show foot alternatives?

My dog seems to have a little trouble getting grip on the stage. I thought some show foot spray could help, but I'm out and nowhere near me to buy any.

    Any easy to find alternatives?

  • Odd Grooming Question. Any Tips?

I'm currently training "Sandy" for an upcoming production of Annie.

Sandy starts out as a stray so I'd like to make him look a bit "raggedy" for the first act. I think it'd be easier to do if he had long hair, but my Sandy has short, slightly wavy hair.

Whatever is done to make him look raggedy needs to be easily undone so he can look nice and groomed at the end of act two.

    Any ideas?

  • Looking for remote collar?

    I'm look for this collar:

Innotek Smart Dog Advanced Professional Trainer (SD-300A)

New or used is fine, as long as it works.

Google has not been friendly to me on this search, and I don't normally go out looking for e-collars so not sure where to look for it.

Its a vibration with or without tone collar. I start working with a deaf dog next week through a rescue I work with and would like to use a vibration collar as a recall/attention cue. The tone would be used to help locate the dog if need be.

If anyone has any other suggestions on a collar that has vibration and tone that would be great too, but keep in mind I'm looking for a vibration ONLY collar, no shock component.

And yes I checked the Innotek site and Amazon too.

  • Webinar topics? What would you like to see?

I'm working on creating my first Webinar. I'm trying to get a general idea of topics to cover. So what would you like to see in a Webinar? Puppy basics? Training? Nutrition? Whatever it may be, I'd like to know what you would like to see in a presentation like this.

The webinar would be free, so all are welcome to join.

  • Overvaccination and new disease?

I answered a question earlier tonight (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201001... First dogs went through parvo like symptoms, a bit of a recovery and then a distemper like phase.

Do you think this could be due to over use of vaccine? and what should we do for vaccine protocols if you think so ?

I will share my vaccine thoughts later.

  • "Real World" trainers, is this what you advocate?

Police, working dog etc. tend to say that "tree huggers" don't get it. I'm just curious if this is what you think is necessary to properly train a dog for the work you do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2sZ30dhdRw

  • Animal related fines in your area?

I'm trying to get together an average of animal related fines, to present to my city as part of revised laws rather than having them enact the new limit law that they are trying to put in place.

Our current laws are fine, they just need revision and enforcement. The law they are trying to add isn't going to help at all and will be unenforceable.

    So I'd like to know:

What is the fine for violation the leash law?

How much time are you given to renew your dog licenses each year?

What is the fine for failing to get a dog a license?

What are the fines for violating noise ordinances if any? (dog barking excessively)

Any others you can think of please feel free to add.

  • What are your puppy questions?

I want to know your most burning puppy questions. I'm currently working on a new puppy book and want to hear what people want to know. I've already got a list based on what I see my clients needing, but I want to make this as thorough as possible. Let me know, what would you want to know about puppies. Be it where to buy, training, socialization, diet, everything.

Please star as well, I really want a lot of opinions on this.

    Thank you.

  • Attention Cesar Milan and dominance theory fans?

I'd like you to read the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's recent statement on dominance theory. It can found here: http://www.avsabonline.org/avsabonline/images/stor...

After you read this, come back here and answer.

What are your thoughts on dominance theory now?

Is Cesar still going to be a big influence, or are you going to research new methods of positive training?

  • Neverending Knee problems?

Ever since I was in 2nd grade I've had knee problems. There was no injury that anyone can recall back then. I just woke up one Monday and my left knee was extremely stiff. Over the course of the week it got so bad that by Friday I couldn't even put weight on that leg.

I'm nearly 30 now and have suffered with knee pain ever since. I've had 3 diagnoses. First, disease of the kneecap, 2. Water in the joint, 3. Slipping patella. I was told my kneecap could be slipping between my two legs bones.

The doctors are looking at xrays taken more than 10 years ago, I had an MRI done last year. Nothing shows up. Yet every now and then out of the blue it seems I get extreme knee pain.

I've done no more activity in the last few months than fast paced walking and light, short live jogging, (not more than a few feet) over the last several months. Yet this week I find my knee to be in excruciating pain.

There is a tiny dime size bruise near the kneecap but no other obvious signs of injury. I don't remember twisting it or anything. It just hurts like he11.

I've been battling this nearly all my life. There is a history of knee issues on both sides of my family. I'm just at a loss as to what this could be. No one can find anything wrong with them. There's something wrong or they wouldn't feel like this.

Any ideas anyone, help. Got any ideas I could share with my doc? I saw a sports medicine specialist as a teenager, and saw an orthopedic surgeon last year. Same result. Of course by the time I actually get to the appt. with those specialist the pain has cleared up.

  • What should happen to this dog?

The woman, who was not identified, told Animal Control that she had bent down to pick up her purse when the dog, Tank, attacked.

Metro Animal Control said it doesn’t want the dog out on the street again.

Tank is a 3-year-old golden retrieiver and has been in the quarantine area of Metro Animal Control for about a week.

Animal Services Director Judy Lauderbauche didn’t mince words when she described how dangerous Tank is.

"I wouldn’t want it next door to me or you. It is not a safe dog to have out in the community," she said.

Tank’s owner, Tyler Stowers, visits his dog every day and said that up until Tuesday, Tank had never attacked anyone. But the woman visiting his house that day was attacked by Tank and suffered a lost eye and cuts that required 200 stitches to close.

  • Am I in the wrong for thinking this?

So quick backstory. My current bf and were in relationships that weren't working. Found each other, hit it off really well. Left old relationships for each other yadda yadda. Things are going great.

Except that bf and his ex gf had bought a house. He's the co-signer on it, he's still on the deed and the loan. So far she's been paying the mortgage since she has possession of the house.

This morning she quit her job. I told the bf he better find out how she's going to pay the mortgage because if she can't it'll fall back on him. I told him if he's going to end up paying the mortgage he needs to take possession of the house.

I was met with the question If she doesn't have money to pay the mortgage how is she going to pay to move? I gave him a funny look and said Not your problem. She quit her job, if she can't pay and you have to, why should get to live there for nothing? And if you don't pay it, your credit will be screwed too. You don't need that.

    Am I wrong?

  • Virus help?

So it started a couple days ago with not being able to do Google searches, the google page would come up, but as soon as you tried to search you got the Can't display the page, page.

Now I can't access Google at all, and its gotten worse I can't access a lot of site, shutterfly, canidae, virus scanning related sites.

I've multiple virus scanners, mutiple spyware removers, not a single one has found anything. I did a search on all of my running processes, they are all in the correct spots. I've tried doing a system restore twice.

It all started the same day my pc had been rebooted by automatic updates. I've turned off auto updates now as well.

What else can I do I'm starting to pull my hair out.

I also went through the Add/Remove programs and cleaned out some things that didn't need to be there. However everything there has been there forever.
