Baby dropped at 31 weeks - risk of pre term labour?

I'm almost 100% certain my little boy dropped 2 days ago at 31 weeks. I am able to breathe a lot better but I have quite a lot of back pain, pressure in my lower abdomen and need to go to the bathroom very regularly but little comes out (definitely not UTI - have had that before).

I was carrying quite high and you can see a definite drop in the bump.

Is there a risk that I might go into labour anytime soon? Is this something I should be seeing a doctor about (my next appointment isn't for nearly 2 weeks) or is this normal?

BTW this is my second baby and I thought that he wouldn't drop until I was nearly in labour.

Experiences please!

I doubt there is a risk that you will go into labor this early, unless he really wants out. It's very possible that he may also disengage, he has to pass through 5 stations when being engaged before he is committed to trying to get out vaginally.

It's also possible that he has just changed positioning which makes it easier for you to breathe.

I don't think so, my baby has dropped so early as well, earlier than yours. I am now 38 weeks and still no dilation :-s

It's just that their positioning for birth, this is what my OB said.

He is just getting in the position. If you havent had any contraction or water leak/breakage you should be fine
