At the news that Odetta passed away this week? What a voice she had, and what a wonderful spirit.
Guess I should have put this in the seniors section. She was a great folk singer with a career that spanned the past 50 years or so. Also a great voice in the civil rights movement of the '60's.

I didn't know the name, so I looked her up on iTunes store to have a listen and I now recognise the voice and realise who you're talking about.
My mum has some of her stuff on old 78s around somewhere she says, so I might have to dig those out. And then buy something to play them on!
Yes - it is sad. She's had a reasonably good innings though (as they say).

Nope. Don't know who she is. I don't mourn for people i don't know. Life is too short, I'd be depressed all the time.
EDIT: The only song i saw of hers that i knew was 'there's a hole in my bucket'!
