Why do most of the people dislike One Piece ?

Ah, okay.... now I think I have a different thought about this. Because I can see there's two group of people didn't like One Piece.

1. Thoughts from Seinen fan

2. Thoughts from Shonen fan

Yes, there is Seinen fan here. I can clearly see that. One thing you should know, never compared a Seinen series with Shonen series. If you prefer a series that don't have a loud mouth character and has a lot more intellectual and makes your brain works more, then One Piece isn't your forte. Although if you pay attention, OP do makes your brains work (only if you want to).

Example : The Straw Hats travel to Alabasta, the desert island. They find the country in the middle of a revolution. Sir Crocodile, the country's hero, secretly used his criminal organization, Baroque Works, to undermine the citizens trust in the King in order to seize the throne and the countries hidden secret for himself.

Key word here is desert island and Baroque Works. Can you so called 'thinking people' deduced the hidden meaning behind it? No? Okay then. Short form of Baroque Work is B.W. If you take a look on the maps, B.W is referred as the desert. Fun isn't it? Don't let me go through the scientific explanation about each of the character's ability okay. Do the thinking yourself (only if you want to)

To Shonen fan, here's the reason why the didn't like OP (since that long answer is such a drag, I decided to keep this one simple XD)

1. They saw 4Kids dubbed.

2. They hate One Piece art because they're used to the art after the year 2000

3. Story is so long and feels like a dragged on

4. They think One Piece plot and storyline is stupid and kiddish

5. The main character is annoying

6. They didn't like Pirates. They're more into Ninja and Samurai! (or Vampire...)

7. No romance or fan speculate pairing couple

Now, to answer them

1. Never watched the 4Kids dubbed. They're made for kids (pun intended). What do you expect from that? Toy water guns instead of actual shot gun? Hell yeah!

2. Art? One Piece started on 1997 and their art is original and distinct. You can't compare then to other shonen series that came out after 2000. By the way, you can clearly see the art has improved since then. Without losing their originality. I wanted to rants more about this, but I won't. This is a vague subject to be arguing about.

3. Story has been dragging on? Shesshh... pay attention when you read/watch people. Refer to this Q

- The series has been building up their arc from the start. Pay attention next time and don't just expect the storyline to be told later by the mangaka. The series that has well organized and planned out storyline is NOT a dragging series.

- They're not your typical fight the villain to protect their beloved village/city. They covered a lot of things, from the revenge for a friends, to the rebellion arcs, to retrieved their friends.

- Don't let me start with Norland and Calgara friendship though.

5. Main character is annoying? You know you're reading Shonen right? Almost all of Shonen main character is annoying because they're expressive and loud.

- I recommend them to read Seinen series if they want much more calm and quiet main character. (only if you are 18 and above)

6. Didn't like pirates. This one can't be help. It's in their blood. People will always fascinating on others culture. Ninja and Samurai looks cool to them because they're not Japanese. Same goes to Japanese, they thinks OP is cool because pirates isn't part of their culture.

- Noticed that some of the mangaka will usually stereotypes the foreigners (non Jap) for being obsessed with Ninja and Samurai?

7. Romance. Shonen actually attracts more fan girls than fan boys. Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin mangaka) admit this because he received more fan girl letters than fan boys.

- This is why you can see lots of fans pairing this girl with that guy, or this guy with that guy (Yaoi) or this girl with that girl (Yuri) or that kids with his mom (?!! Incest!).

- Conclusion, girls like pairing up a Shonen character... OP didn't have that much of pairing choice. Naruto and Bleach has this fan speculates relationship because the mangaka intentionally hints that. While OP don't, they just don't used that cheesy idea.

- Although the current chapter has a bit of romance between Luffy and Boa Hancock (thanks to those that forgot to put spoiler alert before the sentences >__<). We might see more romance in the future? I guess not. Oda always states that his view of 'romance' is different as it's not always about love and relationship. It's about adventure (hence the name of the first chapter - Romance Dawn)

I LOVE ONE PIECE!~~~

it's already my favourite, I love it more than any anime, it's the perfect for me, the humour is great, the characters are awesome, the story is unique and interesting(there're few animes on pirates), even the fillers are good, one of the filler arcs is my favourite believe it or not, the villains change and there's a lot from them not only 1 or 2 groups like other animes.... it doesn't have typical anime girls, it has more than one main character which makes you have more than a favourite and everyone is different from the other and it's not concentrated on only one topic and one place! it changes every time, so if you get bored from this arc the next arc will be promising... it has more than one arc, it's a true adventurous anime and what might annoy people I love the art!!! the artwork is just the best! and it goes well with the characters and the story, but I have to say the comedy is the best!

nothing is bad about One Piece, everything is perfect, lol I mentioned the reasons why it's so good, ummmmm I think people hates it for these reasons:

1. they don't like the art, they say it's childish but they dunno that it's what makes one piece so unique and fun!!

2. most of them have seen the sh!tty dub!! 4kids killed it very badly but they say that's One Piece, I mean just go and see the original One Piece and you'll know how great One Piece is...

what makes One Piece that awesome is Luffy! omg I can't tell you how much i love him, he makes One Piece fun to watch!!

Your guess is as good as mine. I remeber when I first saw OnePiece when it was FoxBox or 4Kids (whatever name they were going by at the time). The intro had me hooked with the pictures and music and the main character Luffy being your not so average pirate. He's the good kind of pirate who has managed to befriend non-pirate types into his crew. Bleach, Naruto and OnePiece are basically on the same page seeing how they are all Shonen. The main characters are relunctant heros at times and they have a tendency of putting others before themselves when time came to it. No one anime is better than the other. But of course there are SOME exceptions. Not many, but some.

I have no clue why people don't like One Piece!!! Probably because they never give it a chance.

I keep reading about how they Prefer Bleach and Naruto, and how it's soo much better.

Well, I HAVE SEEN BOTH BLEACH AND NARUTO like over 100 episodes of each. And At first IT THOUGHT NARUTO was REALLY COOL. Then, It got BORING IN MY OPINION so I STOPPED WATCHING IT FOREVER.

Then, Bleach I still Like, but I just stopped watching it for some reason, I forgot though, but I haven't watched it for months and and don't feel like watching it. But I still think it's awesome

THEN ONE PIECE!!! IT'S MY FAVORITE ANIME AND MANGA EVER, I DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT IT, IT'S ONE OF THE BEST ANIME EVER CREATED AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I happen to like One Piece a lot more than Naruto and Bleach combined. I used to like Bleach and Naruto more, but then a friend of mine got me hooked on the subbed version and I suddenly saw how bad the others were. That and I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho again and realized how similar Bleach is to it.

Most people don't like One Piece because of what 4Kids did to it. Then there's the "artwork" stick that I don't buy. After that it's the originality.

Examples: Buggy the Clown separating his body parts apart, Robin growing limbs off any surface, Chopper the blue nose doctor Reindeer (not as original as the first two, but I'm trying to make a point.)

as for ur question, i actually do kinda like it. the animation is pretty good but i watched it when i was younger and i thought the magic fruit thing was real and when i realized it wasnt i was really mad at the show... true story... although i think i might get into it again since im over the whole "lying fruit show" phase.... >__>

It's probably because of the artwork (some ppl can be shallow >.>)

Edit: Sorry, i didn't mean to offend you by the "Artwork" opinion, i personally think that the artwork is really good. But most ppl i know would drop it just by looking at the manga cover (a lot of my friends did that >.<)

I like One Piece soooooooo much!

As much as I love Naruto and Bleach. It's true. These 3 are overrated...

I mean I love Katekyo as well. :) (sucks that FUNimation told Phantom-Subs to stop subbing Katekyo. :( )

But I guess I just didnt want to watch One Piece cause there are over 300 eps. D: I watched all of Naruto cause I was already watching it as well as Bleach.

But yeah... I have nothing against One Peice but I dont intend to watch it either.

I love One Piece! It is different, the characters are totally off the wall and it's just plain fun to watch! I know some do not like the dubbed version and that could turn them off to the Anime. I myself like dubbed because iA prefer to just sit and watch an Anime and not have my eyes dart all over the screen. But, I did not like the voice actor changes when it got a new distributor. I suppose in time I will learn to not lit bother me. But over all, I really like One Piece and am sorry there are so many who do not.
