They say Avocado is toxic to Bearded Dragons, how much is too toxic?

As my hubby didn't know avocado was a No-No. We thought the lizard would die overnight based on some websites' testemonies.

The lizard is fine. So how much is too much?

Your lizard should be fine, try giving him some leafy greens, veggies or some crickets so that isn't the only thing in his stomach. Greens would probably be best. As long as you don't give it to him again he should be okay. Just keep and eye on him and if you see him acting weird have a vet check him out.

    Can Bearded Dragons Eat Avocado

For Most Herps. & Birds Avocado, Potato Skins & Cedar Wood Are No-No's As Is Teflon Cookware...All 4 Can Kill Them.

The Best Thing To Do Is Not Feed It & Offer Alot Of Water ASAP After Your Animal Gets Into Them, But Avocados Are Not "Toxic" They Have Toxins, Which "Can Be" Deadly. Best Thing To Do Is Make Sure The Toxins Can't Build Up Over Time In The Liver.

With Most Toxins If You Can't Tell The Animal Is Ill Within 12 Hours After Eating It Chances Are You Are Homefree.

Avocado is actually fine for beardies. I feed it to mine once a month as a treat. They've been having it for the past 5 years (they're 7 years old now) and had no problems. The thing is, I don't feed them the skin, I scoop out the flesh and cut it up and they go crazy for it. You'll be fine!

Just because you got lucky, I wouldn't chance it again. Any number of circumstances can affect the way a beardie can digest or not digest the avocado: how much was given, which part of the fruit was fed, the particular potency of that particular fruit, your dragon's health and digestive strength, his husbandry setup (heat, UVB etc).

Here's a list of veggies that are good for beardies..and it shows which ones aren't so good for them!

ok as soon as possible take it to ur local vet do it for ur little dragon friend first you could ring up the vet and ask about ur case so u dont spend $40 dollers getting told its ok so ring a vet and ask. good luck

even a little to you, is too much for them. It is loaded with oxalic acid which is terribled for all lizards and birds.

just don't feed it, ok? - it's not that difficult , you' ll find loads of other veggies to put into your beardie's salad.
