Graduation gift for an Electrical Engineer?

What would be a good graduation gift for a guy graduating with his BS in Electrical Engineering? I want to get a neat gadget or something my cousins boyfriend and I have already spent a lot on Christmas so I would like to spend somewhere around $30. Thanks for your help.

Update:

Oh...I need it by Dec 19th.

One of those electric crime stopping zappers? Not a tazer the kind with no projectile. I don't know how much they cost but I'm a mech. eng. and that what I'd get for a sparky.

I def think it is tacky but many think that *their* situation is different. Why is your situation different? Is this a graduation party or a going away party? Either way these type of parties people usually do not bring gifts but if you want to be tacky then do a gift registry and to be extra tacky include it in the invitation. Personally I feel people who think they are entitled will do what they want regardless even if it is tacky, like those invited should reward you for graduating or moving away.

A job would be the best gift {:-)

However a book or software on his area of interest, though the budget is a bit low.

Perhaps some sort of tool, like a cordless screwdriver, drill, but once again the budget. Maybe just ordinary screwdriver kit, pliers, tong meter (AC ammeter), calculator, steel rule. Ask the guy, he might have all this stuff, or not be interested..

If he doesn't already have one - a Garmin Nuvi. I wouldn't be without one.

    Also, a KINDLE at Amazon.com

Consider a OLED computer monitor. Expensive but state-of-the-art.
