  • How to connect with the family who adopted a child under open adoption?

I am asking this to all of those people who have done open adoptions or know about open adoptions. My friend did an open adoption back in the mid 90's and got pictures and letters until her daughter was about 10 but she is now 15 and still hasn't heard from the family. Being a mom myself I know how things go and I was amazed they kept contact for as long as they did. My question is, how does she update her contact information in the instance that they are looking for her too? Aside from that, can she contact anyone who can contact the family? There were no lawyers because it was a relative of someone she was acquainted with back then. I guess they just handled it with a family court judge. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Only asking people who are willing to be honest...?

My husband and I have been discussing typical sexual encounters for married couples. I was looking online for statistics or research but there isn't much real information. I know everyone is different but we both have had several partners in the past and way different sex lives. I have created some questions for married couples both male and female to see what's "typical". If you don't want to answer truthfully...please don't answer. I will include my answers so it doesn't seem creepy.

    1. Male or female? - female

    2. Age? - 30

    3. Married for? - 7 years

    4. Children and ages? - 1 (age 4)

    5. Weekly encounters? - 3

    6. Weekly oral to completion for you? - hit and miss

    7. Weekly oral to completion for spouse? - 1 to 2

    8. Situation? - Stay at home mom, white collar husband, son is very busy and way too smart, I am a type 1 diabetic with high blood pressure and on birth control, husband is 13 years older and very healthy. Scheduled encounters 3x week. I think that covers it.

  • How to fix a problem with an area rug that's curling up on laminate flooring?

We have WilsonArt Classic laminate flooring and I was wondering if I could use any adhesive tapes to keep my area rug from curling up in a high traffic area. I don't want to ruin the flooring but the rug makes everyone trip and it isn't a cheap rug that we can just replace. Are there any adhesive tapes that will keep the rug down and not ruin the flooring?

  • How to stop it?

I am a young mother (30) of 1 son who is 4 & I see these news stories about teens either being caught planning to take fire on their school peers or teens just killing their school peers. What's going on here? It's becoming a trend to kill. Why? I recall an event in high school where one of my peers killed another that was supposed to be his friend & someone who was a really nice & genuine person so it's nothing new but it's certainly getting worse. Are we being too liberal with our children? At that age I understood that I was only one person amongst many others who too were humans and even if I hated them I could never fathom killing them. So what's your take on this & could yours or my child fall into this way of thinking? I must add that although I was raised to believe in God & now have my own thoughts regarding religion; neither would have led me to believe more than the fact that people are people & no matter what it's not up to me to decide who lives or dies. I am just here.

  • Typical behavior for 3?

Our almost 4 year old son but was about 3 years old when it started knows the way to get anywhere he has been more than once. It's to a point where he tells everyone where to turn and when they have turned the wrong way and he even knows the different ways my husband and I turn to get home to our house in our neighborhood. Does your 3 year old do that?

  • A question for family men and women...?

After you spend a hard day at work, what do you do when you get home? You have a family at home, a spouse and a young child/children.

I am curious what the rest of the population does? I recall being a child and my parents would spend time with us and take care of just the necessities during the week (make dinner, clean the kitchen, pack lunches and prepare for the day ahead) and save the projects for the weekends. Does that still happen? I am 29, my husband is 42 and we have one 3 year old son and I feel like we aren't spending enough time living and enjoying our family with all the other things we concern ourselves with nowdays (like household projects). Shouldn't those projects be saved for the weekend? Shouldn't the TV be turned off so we can talk, play games and just enjoy each other? Are ADD and ADHD just disorders created by families who don't spend time just enjoying their children instead of always being busy with something and popping on the TV or video games to distract?

  • Progressive Equality?

As a white American I understand that prejudice does exist. There are stupid white people torturing other races. How can the white American public who has no prejudice help to stop it? I read about a black woman lured into a white trash mobile home/shed where she was tortured and abused for days. I am sickened that people do these things to other people just because the color of their skin and for their own sick reasons. Could it ever be possible for all of us to unite and have progressive equality? Kind of a leave it all in the past and move forward way of thinking or are things just that bad in this county? Can it be fixed or are we going to continue hurting each other? I've had the mindset of "I don't hurt people so it doesn't exist" but it does and I want it to stop. I wish us whites could stop being stupid and the blacks could stop thinking we hate them and all other races could just be accepted as well. Why do we have to separate humans by color? Is there any hope?

  • Dealing with your family now that you are an adult...?

My cousin is having a hard time dealing with some of our family because they don't seem to see her as an adult and have preconceived notions about her that aren't true. They just seem to cling to the way she acted as a child which she only did because of the way she was being treated. It's really bothering her and keeping her from having relationships with them. I don't know what to tell her and was wondering if there were any books the deal with these types of issues.

  • In a perfect world?

With socalized medicine and a government that doesn't waste money. If all countries had socalized medicine so doctors couldn't chose a country or state, but only practiced medicine to heal people...wouldn't it work? If there was no insurance and a price set for all pharmaceuticals. I know as American's we have power and money (as a country)...why not think of our own? Myself, I would prefer a doctor who wanted to help me and not just make money.

  • FOR DOCS...Brain development in the first 5 years of life???

My 3 year old son has been diagnosed with Sensory Integration Dysfunction and we spoke to his pediatrician about the possibility of ADHD and were given meds to try (I didn't like what I saw with him on the meds).

My question is: Since the brain is still developing at the age of 3 and he clearly has some imbalances...can testing for vitamin and mineral deficiencies and toxins and introducing supplements correct the imbalances or is his brain chemistry already wired for the rest of his life?

  • Possibly ADHD in 3 year old...?

I am torn, we are having my son evaluated by his doc for ADHD. He has been diagnosed with Sensory Integration Dysfunction and I know he has SID. The thing is, no matter what we do he is still kind of a stanger in his own skin and I have been suspecting ADHD. His speech delay is getting better but I worry that he won't be able to express his possible adverse reactions to meds if we allow him to be medicated. On top of that, I just can't see medicating him so young, but it might help so I don't know what to do. I want him to be comfortable and happy but I am afraid of putting him on anything...and my family will have issues with it too. Has anyone medicated their child at this age for ADHD and did it help?

  • Anyone had reactions to Nonoxynol-9?

Recently, I messed up with my birth control pill so I have been using VCF (a vaginal controceptive film containing Nonoxynol-9). My husband is having burning in his penis after sex and has to urinate a couple times to stop the burning and I tend to get dry during intercourse. Has anyone else had these or simmilar reactions using products containing Nonoxynol-9?
