Dealing with your family now that you are an adult...?

My cousin is having a hard time dealing with some of our family because they don't seem to see her as an adult and have preconceived notions about her that aren't true. They just seem to cling to the way she acted as a child which she only did because of the way she was being treated. It's really bothering her and keeping her from having relationships with them. I don't know what to tell her and was wondering if there were any books the deal with these types of issues.

I go through the same thing. I just show them now that I am an adult by being one. This is not to be rude but it's sometimes better to prove to them, then it is to let them figure it out.

the thing here is NOW you are an adult you shouldnt have to bother with people who cant see the real person....so just let them be and find your own circle of friends....sometimes better than family

Tell her to live her life the best sher can and if others cannot see her for the person she is today, then that's their problem, not hers.

wisdom comes with age....if she ignores them, they will stop....people only keep doing things when they work.
