FOR DOCS...Brain development in the first 5 years of life???
My 3 year old son has been diagnosed with Sensory Integration Dysfunction and we spoke to his pediatrician about the possibility of ADHD and were given meds to try (I didn't like what I saw with him on the meds).
My question is: Since the brain is still developing at the age of 3 and he clearly has some imbalances...can testing for vitamin and mineral deficiencies and toxins and introducing supplements correct the imbalances or is his brain chemistry already wired for the rest of his life?

I wish you the best of luck with your son. I agree that he is =very= young and still so malleable to go on such powerful drugs. There are some therapies -- Sensory Integration Therapists, namely -- for children with autism that might be useful in your case. They are =very= time consuming and it may be expensive to find someone to work with him the hours needed, but it could be worth it. Or finding out how to work with him yourself after a few sessions could be helpful as he'd likely respond better to those who are familiar to him.

You should definitely try a more natural approach with a developing child. Interestingly enough Health Kinesiology has a technique called 'Sensory Energy Integration' which helps people (kids and all ages) with how their bodies process sensory information. I think you might find success with that method.
Google the term (Health Kinesiolgy) and you'll find lots more information and also a list of practitioners.
Nutrition and individually adjusted supplementation can definitely bring great results too. Get an appointment with a specialist nutritionist rather than just a GP.

Chemistry can always be altered. Example...
Remember the behavior and side effects of the drugs your son took? Those were the symptoms of chemical reactions to medications. When you took him off, the symptoms of the drug reactions subsided.
I agree that you should immediately seek the advice of a Natural Medical Doctor and other Doctors of Naturopathy to come up with safe and natural alternatives than drugs that will cause more damage. The drugs your child was given were not intended to heal his disorder. They were meant to control or mask symptoms related to his condition.
Medicine should be meant to heal, not hinder. And you are right in thinking about getting his blood tested for toxins and deficiencies. Things like household cleaners, paints, medications and other external chemicals could cause some types of brain damage and undevelopment.
Bless you both. Your son will be healthy and happy.

I recognize there may be plenty of arguable stories in the market as to diagnosing youngsters with ADHD earlier than the age of five. I, myself have an ADHD youngster whom was once identified on the age of four while I spotted she by no means acted in a similar way to her friends at daycare. Have him demonstrated via a pediatric neurologist. Cut out meals/beverages with pink dye #five (you can be amazed what number of meals have it). Switch to sugar loose snacks. Make candy treats with splenda alternatively than constant sugar. Make definite he will get tons of outdor time because the frame demands solar to make Vitamin D. Make definite he is on a few style of multivitamin day-to-day to hold his electrolytes and minerals up. Good success.
