When upgrading computer ram.....?

I want to upgrade the ram on my desktop computer. I checked the specs of the model I have at Dell. I have two slots, and can support max 2.00gb of ram. I researched what ram I need and bought 2gb of ram. Other than placing the ram in the slots and turning the pc on, is there anything else I need to do?

Nope, nothing else. Simply place in your new ram, turn on and the PC automaticlly detects the new ram.

If your desktop supports a MAX 2GB of RAM, buying a single 2GB RAM dimm might not be a very good idea.

Buying two 1GB dimms (or if the PC has four slots, buy four 512MB dimms) would be a better option.

Because your MB supports only 2GB RAM, you have to take out the old RAM and replace it with the new one. Nothing else is required.
