Owners manual for Blue Max garage door opener?

I have an old Genie Blue Max garage door opener and I don't have an owners manual. I need to make some adjustments and the Genie web site is no help. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Update:

The door will not reverse when it contacts something, such as a kid or a car. I am refinancing my home and this is a requirement to qualify. I was told I can retrofit a sensor kit to my opener, but all I find are replacement kits. This one never had a sensor.

The opener is about 15 years old and uses dip switches. Thanks

Are they requiring you to have photo-cells or just to get it to reverse? The opener does not comply w/ UL-325 (safety standard that garage door openers fall under) without photo-cells.

Your operator has the reverse feature on it and it's done through the clutch. If you have tried loosing the clutch spring on the back of the screw it sounds like the clutch disc has froze to the clutch plate (very common on these operators).

Unplug operator, remove motor cover, remove nut, washers, & spring from end of screw, there is a very small wire c-clip right in front of the clutch that is easy to miss but needs to come off, turn the clutch by hand so the keyway points straight up, pull clutch off slowly, there is a small half moon key in the key (if you drop it they are small & tough to find), separate the clutch pad from the disc, rub sand paper over it a couple of times, put it all back together.

Leave the nut as loose as possible (slight tension on spring) & try running the door, tighten in small increments (1/2 - 1 turn) as necessary to get the door to fully open & close, check reverse. It should reverse w/ minimal pressure. It should reverse off a full roll of paper towels laying on the floor.

To get all of the latest safety features you really should replace the opener. Since the opener does not comply w/ UL-325 the mfg no longer supports it and some of the parts (like the clutch & logic board) are obsolete & could be difficult to find should you need to do so.
