Why is my GE ice maker that is built into my fridge not working?

Does it just need cleaned or something? When you press the button for ice nothing comes out. I don't think it is even making any ice. Can Someone please help?

First, has it ever worked? If yes, then open up the fridge and see if there is ice in the tray, if not then make sure no one has shut off the water valve. If there is ice then the mechanism to transfer the ice to your cup is not working.

check the plastic line in the back, sometimes it can get stopped up with small amounts of junk that is in our water, thats why I installed a filter on the back of mine.
