id go with HP you can get a pretty sweet laptop from them for much cheaper than Dell. i have a Dell desktop and i love it, but the laptops seem overpriced, so i got an HP and i also love it, also have had limited problems with vista, nothing important though.

Buying a computer isn't as simple as what brand to buy. It comes more down to specifications of a computer on whether it is good or not. Hp seems to be the country favorite as well as the most reliable. Older dells have had a lot of problems but so far in the newer series they haven't been to bad. I also believe that dells customer support is the greatest that it could be. I recommend anyone to buy an HP computer over computers with the same specifications because the quality for the price is hard to beat. I also like Toshiba and Sony but they tend to get a little more pricy.

Dell computers are good. But not the best ones. They're mostly used for offices and large corporations. I recommend hp or Toshiba. They maybe a little higher in price but they worth it. I personally would buy an Apple!!

Most of my husbands family have Dell so it seems to work for them. I have a toshiba laptop and a compaq desktop.. Compaq is cheap and works well. toshiba was a little expensive but I like it too. gateway is a no go for me and my sis's hp laptop is ok too. For real cheap though Acer. Don't know how well they work but walmart sells it for like 350. good luck

    HP or Compaq

dell is good if you don't plan to upgrade anyparts or OS's or anything because it only works with specific Dell parts.

but HP and Compaq by far have the best out-of-box performance

It relies upon on your financial state at this 2d. it relatively is plenty extra fee-effective to purchase a sparkling battery than an entire new computing device, so in case you do no longer desire to spend distinctive money, pass forward and get the battery. That stated, your computing device is kinda old. There are issues you would be able to desire to do to postpone the existence of the computing device, in spite of the undeniable fact that it relatively is on its way out. i might probably pass forward and get a sparkling computing device if it relatively is on your funds.

I think they are just mediocre. You should go with a different brand, like Acer (I recommend the Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue series).

Source(s): I asked myself the same question when buying one.
