What does the Salvation Army believe?

I'm a 5th generation Salvationist or was until I converted to the Catholic church 2 years ago.

First off...that officer is being a jerk....for over 100 years, Salvation Army officers have ALWAYS had to marry Salvation Army officers. this is not new and he has ALWAYS known this..he never felt the need to do anything about it until he chose to marry a non-officer less than one year after his first wife's death.

It would be like a priest suddenly calling a press conference because he wants to be married and the Church won't let him.

Additionally, there is a lot about this officer that I happen to know as fact that is not being shared by the media. There are ways around the rule...he could be an auxillary officer (like a deacon), which would allow him to marry a non-officer, he could become an employee.....there are ways around this.

The Salvation Army does not Baptize at all...they believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is my only doctrinal disagreement with my home church. The believe the only thing necessary to Salvation is the acceptance of Jesus as your savior and His forgiveness which is true.

They do not believe in once in grace always in grace. A person by their own choices can choose to live outside God's grace.

Services on Sunday...usually 2 with MANY midweek activities.

The follow the creed, but they don't know that, they don't even know the creed.

They have 11 Doctrines...let's see how well I can remember.

"1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.

2. We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship.

3. We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead - the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.

4. We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man.

5. We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience they lost their purity and happiness, and that in consequence of their fall all men have become sinners, totally depraved and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God.

6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by his suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.

7. We believe that repentance towards God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit, are necessary to salvation.

8. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself.

9. We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.

10. We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified, and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

11. We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked."

The Booths believed that many Christians had come to seek salvation through ritual rather than reliance on God. Accordingly, they decided not to include the use of sacraments, (mainly baptism and Holy Communion) in the Army's form of worship. Other beliefs of The Salvation Army are that its members should completely refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking, taking recreational drugs, pornography, the occult, and gambling. Soldiers affirm that they will give "as large a proportion of my income as possible" to the Salvation Army.[5]

The ordination of women is permitted in the Salvation Army. Salvation Army officers are technically only allowed to marry other officers (this rule varies in different countries); however, this rule has been occasionally been relaxed in recent years. Husbands and wives usually share the same rank and have the same or similar assignments — the major exception to this is the General's spouse, who is given the rank of Commissioner.

Officers are given 'Marching Orders' to change ministries within The Salvation Army. Usually, officers are given new Marching Orders every two to five years and reassigned to different posts, sometimes moving great distances.

What DOES The Salvation Army feel........we feel in well grammar. I grew up in The Salvation Army....there used to be no church instructing in this quandary. Although their Sunbeams say "Be form to animals, in no way scouse borrow, swear gamble, contact detrimental medications or robust drink." It might be as much as every member to make up their possess minds in this quandary.

the salvation army is "Christen" and is kind of run like the military i really dont know if it still is but that would only be those of the inner workings. i know the main object is to help the poor. there is more to them then just that but that's about the jest of it i dont know of any body that they helped that is not thankful i know i am i needed them once along time ago there the best. ...so there!

Salvation Army is a Christian Ministry

They are christians of the charitable missionary kind.

The believe that a man is more likely to listen to them, and be receptive to their preaching, if his belly is full.

So they feed first, and sermonize later.

Couldn't you tell by the name.

Christian missionary work, they believe in the well-being for man-kind.

uh...this is not right.

You have to be a member to buy stuff. You know, like Sam's Club.
