I know about Officers in the Military but I never knew about Warrant Officers.

Warrant officers are technical experts at their job. Their specific mission is related to their technical job. As an officer you are more of a manager. And officers outrank warrant officer, however if you are a 02 I highly doubt you will question a CW5.

For the most part the anwers are right on point. All though Warrant Officers are not ALWAYS seasoned enlisted soldiers. Especially if they are aviators. In addition to the technical expert warrant officers the Army uses Warrant O's as pilots as well.

Warrant Officers are also commissioned officers once they reach the rank of CW-2.

A WO or CW is a subject matter expert. If you have a technical problem that a bunch of senior NCO's can't figure out, chances are a WO or a CW will be the one who knows the answer. These are the guys in their MOS or Rating that know every piece of equipment inside and out, can recite every manual associated with it from memory, and who's warning that something bad is about to happen is saying "watch this s***." with a smirk on their face.

They rank above enlisted personnel but below commissioned officers, and by that I mean the "O" pay grades.

A commissioned officer is more of a manager, in charge of a group of enlisted personnel and responsible for making sure they accomplish the tasks that are hand to him or her.

Simply put, A Warrant Officer is prior senior enlisted and is a technical expert at his/her job.

A regular Commissioned Line Officer is a trained manager without any prior enlisted experience.
