why is Joe Calzaghe afraid?
he wants to retire as an undefeated champion and legend but refuses to fight the main contender. he even changed weight to avoid having to take a mandatory fight against Carl Froch and has now categorically stated that they will never fight.
a TRUE legend would never run and hide! while i like and admire Joe this is just not on.

i agree nigel.
for all the words in the tabloids-calzaghe still won't share a ring with carl froch!.
the calzaghe camp and its supporters can bang on as much as they like about froch "not being in the same class as calzaghe".
but thats what its all about at the end of the day.
if i were a boxer and i knew for a fact i could beat froch-not only would i do it for my familys financial future (this fight would be worth 5 million easy) but i would also shut froch up in front of his fans in nottingham within the three or so rounds the calzaghe fanboys keep quoting.
so if calzaghe still has what it takes-whats stopping him??-its money for old rope surely.
what nobody has mentioned yet is that carl froch offered to fight calzaghe three years ago FOR NOTHING!! (there was nothing at stake-calzaghe could keep his title) before kessler etc came along and cazaghe was champ just to prove he can beat him.
but back in those days froch held no title so calzaghe was right to say no-froch had nothing to bring to the table he wasn't a proven title-holder.
but now froch holds the WBC super middleweight crown (the most sought after belt outside the heavyweight division) so calzaghe has no excuse.
but the lad is still waiting! what that says to me is while i think it is wrong to say calzaghe is actually frightened of losing against froch-he has fought and beaten too many top men for that-i would certainly go as far as to say he is dubious of him-i think he knows froch has what it takes to beat him but wants to retire undefeated.
remember that when froch fought pascal (also undefeated) he fought him with cracked ribs and a cut eye-and still never even blinked when pascal hit him with some bombs-calzaghe has been in the game long enough to know a dangerous fighter when he sees one and the only reason he will not admit as such is because he does not like froch.
the bottom line is that if calzaghe does call it a day-the fanboys can harp on as much as they like-but carl froch would be the only man calzaghe wouldn't fight.
so what is calzaghe afraid of is the right question.

Afraid? Do you even follow boxing at all or did you just happen to stumble across the Froch fight at the weekend?
Calzaghe has nothing left to prove! All those years of intense training, strict eating habits and cracking fights...he should retire now and enjoy life! I have to say I'll miss watching him box but we'll always have the old fights to look back on!

Ever watch the Calzaghe vs Bika fight? Calzaghe broke his hand in the early rounds and continued to fight and beat Bika one-handed. So what's your point?
If you want Calzaghe to fight again, to prove ONCE AGAIN that he is a great and underrated boxer he should fight to top ranking fighters currently in the division...Froch is good but he ain't that great yet. Calzaghe's work rate, speed and intelligence in the ring will tear Froch to bits.

He ain't scared. Froch is a good fighter but I don't think he would beat Calzaghe.
Calzaghe just knows it's time to call it a day. A TRUE legend knows when his time is up, and when to call it a day rather than keep fighting for the money and getting made to look like a bum fighter in the ring. It shouldn't be about the money.

Carl Froch is not in the same league as Calzaghe good as fighter as he is. Calzaghes beat better then Frock and has nothing to prove. What's the motivation to fight Carl Frock after beating numerous guys like him over the years?
Calzaghe is not avoiding Frock, there's just no need or benefit to fight him. Put Carl Froch in a ring with Kezzler and watch him get knocked out!

People need to understand that there are ALWAYS going to be up-and-coming strong, young fighters. Joe Calzaghe is not afraid, he just wants to make a little more money, and finish up his perfect career.

how the hell is that man afraid lad? he won a good deal of fights, and accumulated a great deal of rounds fought , boxers dont have to fight forever , mayweather ran away at what 39 fights or 40? he was still respected even after hand picking two thirds of his fights, calzaghe is ranked one of the best pound for pound fighters on the planet, yahoo is full of calzaghe haters but in reality people like u just want him to lose, and it aint gonna happen, and carl froch is a good fighter yes, but he barely got past pascal, kessler would destroy froch.
every1 today is hailingg the pacman as the greatest ever, almsot a third of every fighter he fought was a fillipino bum, and he still got knocked out more than once plus has draws on his record.

Carl Froch is up and coming as a boxer but I do not think he is in the same class as Calzaghe You can hardly accuse Joe of cowardice 46 fights unbeaten. He is good and of course picks the fights he wants . As a Champion this is his privilege

Froch is not in the same league as Joe. He needs to do more to earn a fight with Joe. Maybe if he beats Taylor and Kessler he will get Joe to fight him but Froch is no where near good enough to beat Kessler. Froch will never be as good as Joe he has taken way to much time to step up and fight someone half decent

ok im a big fan of froch but the kid aint got enough of a fanbase to fight calzaghe.....calzaghe is only gonna fight for the mega-fights & froch just aint at that level yet but will be in 1 or 2 years.
