Pregnancy question, help please!?

My last period was about a week before Halloween. It is now December 11 and I have yet to get my period. My period is pretty irregular. For instance I will have a regular period two months in a row then not get it for a month. I took a Walgreen's brand, home test last week it was negative. It said if I was more than a month late that I did not have to take it first thing in the morning so I took it right before dinner. My sister has PC OS, and although it is still relatively new and the doctors are still learning about it they say it is hereditary. I have not been diagnosed with it but it is still possible for me to have/get it. Lately people have been asking my if I am pregnant-not because of a belly, but because they just say I look different. So here is my question, what do you think about my situation and do you think I should take another test? Also how often are OTC tests incorrect? THanks

Update:

For those that don't know PCOS is a condition that when you ovulate you do not release eggs. Theres more to it but that is the main pregnancy part of it. Thus making it difficult to get pregnant without the help of medication.

According to the information I found they are correct 97% of the time and most women receive a false negative becasue they have tested too early. I wouldn't think a month after your missed period would be to early. It really isn't all that uncommon to miss a period. The second article lists some of the reasons this may happen. I would call your doctor and let them know what is going on.

I have PCOS and had similar problems. I would sometimes go months without a period and would take tests that came up negative. When I finally did get pregnant (at 30 years old) I tested so on the home tests. I know they can sometimes be inaccurate but I've always had good luck with them. Have you tries the digital test yet? I think those are easier to read...

On a side note, you really should get tested for PCOS if you are having these problems. It can cause fertility problems and causes (or is caused by) hormonal imbalances that can lead to tons of other health problems. I took metformin for years before I could get pregnant, and luckily had a healthy pregnancy, but not all women are so lucky.

Get it checked out and good luck!

If you have a history of irregular periods then there is a possibility that you might not be pregnant. If you were then the HPT would be able to pick up your HCG, pregnancy hormone. I would recommend that you pay your doctor a visit just to be sure. If you are not pregnant then at least find out what the problem is. Good luck with everything!

the pregnancy tests are incorrect quite often. Especially the off brand types. Get a first response. Those are little more expensive but worth it. If it shows negative as well you may want to go have a blood test done.

With an irregular cycle it is always best ot have a blood test. If you don't have insurance try Planned Parenthood o a Women's clinic for free test and advice. Good Luck!
