christians, where did god come from?

if your answer is he was already there then could you not say the same for the universe? the big bang might not be the beginning of the world but a point where the cycle repeats it's self, that's one of the theories explaining the big bang.

Update:

another thing, those who believe there has to be a god to explain the complexities of humans and animals, th world, etc., how could you not believe that over a long period of time things can't evolve and yet believe that something complex enough to create the world, give life and intellegence to the creatures, and make such a well-knit ecosystem (all in seven days) how could something like that come out of thin air?

You ask a question to which one can only speculate. Hindus believe the universe goes through successive stages of expansion and contraction. This is as good as any theory.Western thought tends to be more scientific but allows for much stranger scenarios. Such as the multiverse, or Parallel universes. These things are fun to think about but there is no way today of testing the truth of it.

You pose an unanswerable questionLike what went on before the big bang? There is no way to collect data so all we have is speculation.

But I will tell you one thing; the more we discover about this universe it only shows me how great my God is.

The story of Genesis is just so much pablum. It was never intended to be a written record of actual events. It is a story told to eager ears with the intention of convincing them of the greatness of God.If they had passed around a book of quantum equations it wouldn't impress many people. So they put it in a form people could understand and relate to.

God is the one God of the earth and the universe. Our feeble efforts try to put observations into neat little packages and come up with a ridiculous story of six days of God's labor and a rest period on the 7th day. This Deity just created out of nothing all that you see in the universe. This doesn't smack of someone who needs a break.

He/she is immortal and therefore he/she was in no hurry for all this to happen.He/she has waited 4.5 billion years to see the culmination of His creation, intelligent beings worshiping Him. And it's appropriate that we should worship Him/her(whatever image you want). Personnally I am in awe everyday to look around and see what's He/She has done and continues to do.

You're just going to have to let go of doubt, skepticism.

Be humble, let go of the thought that you know everything.Contemplate your place in this universe. In the scheme of things you are much like an ant. An ant looks up, he cannot phathom the doings of Man. What would an ant think of cars and rush hour, what about a baseball game. Although these are perfectly normal, as we see them, to the ant they would be incomprehensible, that is if ants can think. Maybe God lit the fuse for the big bang and He got a merit badge in universe making.

Yes the Big Bang happened but what went before will always remain a mystery

    the ultimate question

    it cannot be answered.

the ver batim answer is: he has always existed.

you can ask the LDS church that he exists Near KOLOB, so in a sense he comes from KOLOB or a place which is near KOLOB

but if you actually mean where did God have a beginning, no christian knows the answer to this because none of them have Personal revelation to answer it.

they beleieve eye has not seen nor ear heard.

My theory is that the universe, in one form or another, has always existed, constantly expanding outward, until it reaches a critical mass, imploding in on its self, and expanding outwards again.

No one knows. We are not nearly capable enough to understand him completely.

I have a theory but it is so difficult for people to understand its almost not worth saying, but I'll give it a shot.

When God was, it was the beginning. But it wasn't really a time because before the universe there was no time. There was no space either, there was just nothing. Time is relative to matter and before that there was nothing. No one could have created God the almighty because God created the universe so there was nothing before Him, not even Himself because there was no "before him." He wasn't created, he just was. And not that he always was because time is not infinity, there was no period before time, before God, because before God, there wasn't.

    Its kinda like this:

    XXXXX(God)----------------time-----------...

    as opposed to this:

    ----------(God)------------------time----------...

Why do you trouble yourself with knowing the answers to such questions. God knows that even if you did know the answer, that will not change your unbelief. As long as you are blinded by sin, you cannot see God.
