Internet Explorer unstable lately. ?

I have IE version 7 and it has become pretty unstable as of recently. There are several times a day where IE will simply freeze up on me and I'll have to go to the task manager to shut it down.

Also, whenever I click a video link I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error rather than the video opening up in Windows Media Player.

I ran Spybot and Trend Micro Housecall, but neither picked up any problems so I need some help fixing this problem.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Update:

I am running Vista.

Update 2:

Ok, I tried the previous advice and it appears that IE is more stable, but the video links still aren't working.

Go to the Advanced Tab in Internet Options and reset everything back to their default settings. Otherwise, you might want to take the easy way out and use Firefox or Apple's Safari. Opera is an awesome browser too. In fact, I like Opera the best.

You minght have that Zero Vulnerability bug that is affecting only IE? Definitely, use an alternate browser until Microsoft releases a patch.

Are you running Windows Vista or XP?

    XP:

    Start>Run

    type: cmd

type in command prompt these lines:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh int ip reset resetlog

    netsh winsock reset

    IN VISTA

    start search

    type: cmd

Go up to programs and right-click on CMD and click run as administrator

type in command prompt these lines:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh int ip reset resetlog

    netsh winsock reset

Ok so the video links still aren't working.

Make sure Adobe Flash Player is up to date for one.

Secondly, if you are running a router try logging into it and see what your MTU setting is set at.

    Linksys: 192.168.1.1

    Belkin: 192.198.2.1

    Netgear: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

It should be in any basic setting page.

Crazyjester, I had the same issue, and when I went to mozilla.com and installed firefox, which is much more user friendly, I didn't run into the same issues. I hope this helps, a much more simpler way to bypass IE.

Is your flash and macromedia up to date? I can't use IE anymore because it keeps telling me to DL flash and I have numerous times. I've found Mozilla Firefox to be more user friendly and actually faster than IE.
