Update:

I work at a mall with a very dark parking garage and this is the season that people try to rob you and/or kidnap you.

Update 2:

This is not legal and is very dangerous. If you feel that you need protection throughout your daily routine and know you can take the responsibility of having a weapon for defense, purchase a real handgun and get your conceal carry permit...

A firearm (real or otherwise) should not be used to "scare" someone away...Bad guys are not afraid of the gun itself but the person who is willing to use it. If you do not want a real handgun or are not 21 years old or older, look into a quality pepper spray at your local gun shop or hunting store.

A BB would not defend you against an attacker and would end up getting you hurt or possibly killed.

Actually in the state of pa, a bb gun or pellet gun is not considered a firearm and can be carried by anyone over the age of 18 concealed or open carry. No permits are needed. See pa law code 6304

    Bb Gun Laws In Pa

Q: "If you don't have a concealed handgun permit, how do you carry a gun in public?" A: Two ways. 1) Openly. 2) Inside a locked case. The specific laws & regulations vary from one jurisdiction to another. So you'll want to research this ahead of time. I've found it convenient to use a backpack or a briefcase to contain the locked case that contains the gun. This is less conspicuous and lets you move around without attracting attention. A rifle or a shotgun might require a large duffel-bag to contain the locked case which contains the gun. Ammunition will probably need to be kept separate (in a different backpack, duffel bag, briefcase or large purse or something).

I guess the first question would be ask why you'd want to do this. Police wouldn't appreciated it if they stopped you. They would probably get you on inciting a panic, or something. And it would get you killed if you ran into some real criminals. Either carry a gun, or don't carry a gun. Gun ownership and carrying is not something to be done halfway. The middle of the road isn't going to work. If PA doesn't allow you to carry concealed (I don't really know PA's laws that well), then I'd move.

I don't think it'd be illegal, since BB guns aren't considered firearms. At least I don't consider them firearms. It just doesn't sound very smart.

Any CCW class out there will teach you the best defense is avoidance. If your instincts tell you to avoid the dark parking garage, then stay out of the dark parking garage! Surely there's somewhere else you can park, even if it means a longer walk. Even with a concealed firearm I don't go where I think there may be trouble. The .44 mag or 9mm at my side is a last resort if my street smarts don't keep me out of trouble to begin with; they're not a tool to allow me to go places I shouldn't be in the first place. And a BB gun is a joke...most criminals are quite aware of how to distinguish one from a large caliber pistol (all you have to do is look at the size of the hole at the end of the barrel).

Yes you do, a BB gun is a gun is it not? the laws are pretty much the same everywhere regarding concealed weapons. Obey the law when you should and get the proper permits and obtain more then a bb gun for protection. travel with a friend, have mall security escort you, carry pepper spray, a taser, train in the marshell arts. And look tougher then everyone else. do all these and Pray, above all pray.

No license but you need your head examined. Carrying a concealed toy gun is the best way to get yourself shot. Good luck with that.

Use mace or pepper spray. A fake gun could get you killed.
