By completing the square, how would u factor 3x^2-5x-12?

i mean, how would you SOLVE this by completing the square?

    (3x )(x ) you know this because its the only way you will get 3x^2

    (3x+ )(x- ) because a + plus a - = a -

    then think what equals 5x

    3x times 3 = 9x

    4 times x = 4x

    9x-4x=5x

    (3x+4)(x-3)
