Is it life or potential human life?
7 out of 10 fertilized eggs abort naturally
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-2TjBrmQlabMmkPXFrSm...
or end in miscarriage. It is impossible to prove which egg will abort prior to its actual abortion.
Because a person cannot prove which fertile eggs are alive, one cannot prove which egg is human life. If it is not "alive" at a particular point in time, it is not life.
The same is true about aborted fetuses. One cannot prove which fetuses would comprise the 7 of 10 that will die naturally. Therefore one cannot say which abortion killed a fetus that would not have died otherwise.
Sorry, until birth, it is only potential life that admittedly becomes more likely alive through out the period before birth.
If your answer is that it is "life" at conception, please explain how something that is at least 70% more likely dead could possibly be "life".
edit: sufi -- abortions occur on live fetuses and kills the fetus. There is no way to tell which fetus would or would not die without the assisted abortion. Natural abortions occur through out
pregnancy right up to the day of delivery.
Edit:
It is so nice that many of you give your personal opinions about life or death or the value of life---- but none of them answer the question. And the reason you do not answer is because the fertile egg is potential life---- their is no other explanation. If there were, you would answer the question. How is that for a challenge?
should be....
there is no other explanation.

Read http://www.prolifeismurder.com/ ---you may call others murderer, but ----The people you murder are born loved children. And you are the cause of the death of the poor and widowed. Good luck.
Edit: MamaBear;
I read your response several times looking for an answer to my question. Please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears you did the dancing bear thingy and did everything except answer the question. Everything you say has been said before and quite frankly means nothing if the fetus is dead due to natural causes. And that is where my question starts.
Is it right to call something life and waste resources “saving” it if it that will naturally expire and not become “human life” 70% of the time? If it is not life but potential life, then there is a whole new set of rules that apply. Your answers (s) do not apply except in the framework which you have constructed. And the framework you have constructed fails 70% of the time.
That would be of no consequence except for the fact that your plan requires the expenditure of resources to “save” something that cannot be saved. Were those resources not wasted then they could be put to use saving live children.
tim: I honestly cannot see where you answered the question. -No, you can't kill anyone you wish, it is murder, abortion is not. In fact stopping abortion is murder. You must be a murderer, because you think you can kill children and 100% of the population. whereas, I believe you should not be able to kill kids or any of the population. I said that fetuses that are already dead are not alive. What is your argument?
With regard to the blog, you evidently have problems with comprehension. the blog states that it is impossible to have sex without consenting to abortion. I am sorry, but that is a biological fact, not an opinion that you can take sides on. My other souce is a mathematical proof that pro lifers are murderers. Again it is not debateable.
With regard to what would be done with the money saved; you by all means may spend it on worthless crap because you are pro life. I do spend mine on saving children, as do many others. Your answers are a window into your mind.
tim, in answer to:
1)Sorry tim the math is on 6th - 9th grade level. If it is above your grade level perhaps Mom or Dad will help you. Or you could read my other questions and read what some real scientist have said.
2) While you have the scientist's email up you might ask them why a person cannot tell which fetus will die before it dies. That will help you understand why you should read a question before you answer it.
3) The people trying to start a fight are the pro lifers standing on my corner with signs calling me a murderer. All the while I have proven mathematically that I save lives and they cause death. And tim, when you grow up you will learn that you cannot stop unwanted pregnancy. It is mathematically and scientifically impossible. Until that date, I suggest, that you stay off the street corners, off the internet, and away from the topic of abortion. Only people that are trying to stop the pro life murderers should speak. (btw--What grade are you in?)

"Anything that grows is not dead. Period."
Stalactites grow.
Pigs grow too, but we have no trouble killing them. I don't believe a fetus has any rights. It is not self-conscious, it does not think, it is not a person. It is a simple organic robot which may grow into a human being.

It appears that you love your words so much you have to repeat them. Well, I am going to do the same thing and repeat my answer so that it may help expose you to everyone else.
Well 100% of people die at some point so by following your logic I can kill anyone I want to because they are dead already. I fail to see how you can say that a fetus isn't alive. When something is growing it is alive. It doesn't matter that it needs its mother to grow. No born child could survive alone until they reach a certain age. If a fetus isn't alive then what is it? If it were dead then it would never grow to be what you consider to be a person. When people put their minds to solving a problem it gets solved. It is people like you who prevent the world from acknowledging that there is a problem. You just love to hear yourself speak and will throw meaningless words out over and over again so that people become so fed up with the topic they give up. Do you think that a world without abortions would be bad? If not then why don't you try to reduce them instead of dedicating a lot of time to further a harmful process.
Also, your blog is a joke. It seems like you are trying so hard to be intelligent, but you just fall on your face over and over again. The answer is not to procreate until we all die of starvation. The answer is to get people to realize that abortion is a problem so that we can educate and innovate to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies before they begin. When we solve this problem we also solve the problem of hungry children. Everyone is on the same side, they are just so far entrenched they won't admit it. People come together and solve the problem of unwanted pregnancies, its the solution everyone wants.
You are also missing a huge part of the equation. If a person were not spending money on their "fetus" it doesn't mean that they would use those resources to help a child in need. They would just use it to buy more useless crap. Again, we need to educate people about the problem, not breed hate.
OK lets keep this one fresh and short.
1. Show me the math. I read your blog and other site and see NO mathematical proof. Boil it down and show it to me.
2. A fetus that is already dead obviously doesn't need to be aborted so that is irrelevant. It is easy enough to determine what fetus is alive and what is not. The fetus that is alive will be born. Again, if I follow your logic then I shouldn't have an abortion because most pregnancies will end anyway and the abortion would be a waste of resources. How many starving children that should never have been conceived could that save?
3. Again, you are just strying to start a fight here. Would you like to end unwanted pregnancy? If so then we are on the same page. The fact that our viewpoints on abortion differ is irrelevant. I'm sure a man who so loves math can figure out that it is more effecient to prevent a pregnancy then to have an abortion or give birth. The problem is that people are so obsessed with this idea that it is their right to have an abortion. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but until you put that aside we cannot solve the problem.

now i am pro choice but i suspect that if you look into it you will find out that abortions are mostly performed on the fertilized eggs that did not abort, ie that caused a bona fide pregnancy which isn't going away.
the 7 of 10 who die mostly do so before a positive pregnancy test and before most abortions occur. i mean your argument sounds good but it's not really true. otherwise 7 of 10 positive pregnancy tests would go away and that just doesn't happen.

I think life starts as soon a s the sperm enters the egg and begins to split and grow. Of course it is potential life, its growing. The law of natural selection decides its fate. Or the vacuum tube does. The womens choice.

Watch a time lapse video of a plant growing from a seed under the soil before sprouting through it. Now, ask yourself, at what point from the time of germination wasn't the plant considered living?
The term fetus describe that part of the process of life growing into a human. Was it dead at any part of that process? If not, why say its not a baby?
Would you abort your pet's kittens or puppies during its pregnancy? Funny how pet lovers find that appalling, but think human abortion isn't.

The reality is that life does not begin at conception, and anyone who thinks that is ignorant.
The sperm and egg are both quite alive. At no point in the reproductive cycle is anything dead.
- StellaLv 61 decade ago
Potential life. As you've already explained, conception does not guarantee a live birth.

the early stance of the church was that until the fetus could be discerned as male of female, it wasn't really a soul yet.
Now science put us all in a panic, but the procedure is barbaric anyway.
That should never have to happen to a woman.
- mackLv 51 decade ago
Your argument is valid but irrelevant as is the argument about whether life begins at conception or not. The bottom line is: It Is The Woman's Choice; NOT The Governments!!! LET IT BE!!!!

If a fertilized egg even begins to multiply its cellular mass, that can only be done when LIFE is in the cell. A dead or inanimate cell will NOT split and create another cell.

I'm pro choice, but I'd just like to point out that life has a 100% mortality rate.
