I have poison oak on my leg. What can I do?

I've had it before, and I generally just use and anti-itch spray or cream and sit it out, and just wait for it to go away, but that takes weeks!

I was wondering if there was a way to help it go away faster?!

PLEASE help me! It's driving me mad!!!

thank you

-Nicole

Update:

Lol, some of these answers are kinda weird...

My parents know, they just don't care (there's too many children running around the house to notice that one has poison oak all over her legs)

I don't go to the doctor... I haven't been to a doctor in YEARS... So I guess that's out of the question.

I really want to know some home remedies or lotions or something.

I have caladryl lotion, but my poison oak is still all over.

Last time I had it, I scratched it until it was a bloody mess, then let the wounds heal. But I don't want to do that again...

Try calamine lotion. It may not make it go away faster, but it will definitely help with the redness and the itching. Also, take some benedryl, it may help tone the reaction down a bit.

Source(s): I hike a lot and there's tons of poinson oak and poison ivy here.

Apply Caladryl/Calamine lotion to the area with a cotton ball often during the day/evening. It'll relieve the itching while clearing it up. Feel better soon!

You can again use the OTC meds you've mentioned or you can see your doctor who might have other suggestions. Unfortunately p oak and ivy are so very itchy and so very uncomfortable and it seems like they last forever. I had scars from it for years but they finally faded and I'm very careful to avoid it. Would ice cold wet cloths on the areas help with the discomfort?
