What to do with a coyote?

So im a hunter myself, i shot a coyote this morning because they have been harassing my dogs and chasing deer, but im not sure what to do with it, im not the type to just kill something and leave it in the woods. What do you do if you kill one?

skin it out and have it tanned and mounted as a display. fits in well in my den alongside other such critters. If you don't want it, contact a taxidermist, he may have a use for it.

    shoot safe

Most of the answers are good ones, except for the "bury it" ones.

I would just leave it lay if I was you.

The crows and other vermin will take care of it for you.

(Also, placing it on a fence pole as a warning to other coyotes doesn't really work, it's just an old wives tale)

Put it's head on a pike as a warning to other would be trouble makers....joking.

Just leave it. Foxes, hogs, raccoons, birds, and other coyotes will eat it...circle of life and all that jazz. Dead things in nature rarely go to waste.

You could also drop it in a field and use it as bait. A dead yote and a pup in distress call are great for bringing more in.

find some local trappers, they'll take it off your hands, but don't expect money, coyote pelts aren't worth that much before processing, or you can even pelt it yourself, just skin like a deer or rabbit.

In my area, it's fine to leave them lay. Hogs will eat them, and you may even be able to use that fact to put pork on the table.

You could bury the thing, of course, if it makes you feel better. Again, in my neck of the wood, the hogs would just dig him up.

You should sell it. I knew a guy who would get 90 dollars per coyote. He would sell them to a place for fur. He would trap them and pile them up in his truck and take them in each week. Call a taxidermy store, they might know who would pay for the coyote.

Coyotes aren't normally agressive unless defending their young or going hungry.

A large dog should be able to scare it off.

You may have to restort to shooting it. I had one kill one of my cats before, but I think my neighbor killed it because after the weekend my cat disappeared, I stopped hearing the coyotes at night.

I have a lot of respect for coyotes, but sometimes you have to do what is right for your animals.

If you kill it, bury it or leave it for scavengers to eat -circle of life type of thing

Skin it and have the hide tanned.

I would bury it because you need a trappers licence if you would be taking the fur in!

don't leave it.. pick it up take it to a taxidermy

have it stuffed and show it off to your friends
