Is my logic incorrect?

If I choose to believe in God, and when I die, it ends up there actually is no God, and I cease to exist - I have lost nothing.

If I choose NOT to believe in God, and when I die, it ends up there actually is a God, and I have made a huge mistake - I have lost everything.

No, your logic is nonsense. Google "Pascal's Wager".

Yes, it's pretty bad. I mean, even when you play with there being a God you don't allow that He would act in any way.

And what's with the choosing. There must be a basis.

The question of God is important in itself. That is a premise of your setup. So, all you should concentrate on is following your conscience (which is the certain light that you do have right now) and seeking to the point of finding an answer. -- Because there is a 3rd option, a much more common one I imagine : You get to the Judgement after your death and God says 'Forget the answer, How hard did you look, did you treat my existence with the seriousness it requires'.

It's not all logic, it's the heart too. And common sense that if there is a God He will help the sincere seeker.

The relationship with God and His Mind is through the soul and our minds which do not die. Hence, a person cannot say that when I die (cease to exist) a physical death I die a spiritual death. Pascal did not understand the spiritual nature of being a child of God. Pascal wagers a ludicrous argument based on a contradictory premise of what it is to be human. Equating a physical death with a spiritual death endows humans with divine prerogatives over the soul, which is ludicrous.

It's wrong because you're assuming that the question is "Christianity or Atheism." There are many thousands of other possibilities to consider. Any number of god(s) might be awfully mad at you for choosing the wrong divine being to worship.

look up any discussion of pascal's wager.

See objections. There are many. Main ones is that it postulates there is only one god (and according to humans that's not true) also it requires that that god won't notice or not object to be used as insurance.

    Thanks for the drink.

Which God? If the Jews and Muslims are right then Christians are in big trouble for worshiping the trinity.

The question is, how do you know you're worshiping the right god, out of all the ones that could possibly be the true one?

You can't worship all religions "just" to be sure. Better to live life true to yourself, than to spend life worshipping out of fear.

It is fine, when it boils down to Atheism and 'insert religion here'

    Christian also

    Atheist don't like Pascal's Wager

    No, that's not the point.

If you don't believe, you'll be capable of having a life to live to its fullest.

And even if there's a God, I highly doubt praying for 50,000,000 times will be worth it in heaven.
