Good question, if by chance they actually do socialize they also want people to abort their children too.

Booze is really cheap mate. You can get a litre of whisky for around a fiver these days.
Smoking ban is to protect non smokers. I smoke, wish I'd never started, and support the ban.
The other things, yeah, decent food is too expensive and the cost of living is very high.

I stopped going into pubs years ago because of the smoke filled atmosphere. Now there is a ban and I've had no inclination to return to regular nights out with the boys. But I still socialise.I'm a member of several interest groups including wildlife, photography and hill walking. On the odd occasion when I do visit pubs I often find them boring. I guess I've finally grown up.

I don't know about the Muslim god, but the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is merciful, and He allows some people to live for a very long time, so that they may turn to Jesus Christ and be saved. And some people have a lot better metabolisms than others.

They don't want you socialising because you might meet up with others who are sick of this government and get together to plot against them.
They want you stuck in your home, wrapped in blankets because you cannot afford heating, scared to go out because there are supposed knife carrying thugs on every corner.
They want you poor, friendless and scared because then you will let nanny take complete charge.
What's all this with "Tasers"? That my friend is for when the peasants finally revolt, they won't want to kill us just keep us in line.
The issues you mention will pale into insignificance soon, our true rulers are gearing up for the final push towards total control of the population.

This may come as a surprise to you but you CAN socialise quite enjoyably without smoking or drinking

And let us have a bit of fun in our lives and make our own decisions?
So they can control as more of course! :-P
I don't like the government telling how much and where I should be allowed to eat, drink, smoke, sleep, work, etc.

Who else is the government going to go after if not the people that have money for smoking, drinking? You can't get money out of the people that can't afford those luxuries.

question is why don`t the government listen to the people .
cause they treat us like idiots.
promise one thing and do another,
promise a referendum never deliver,
can never answer a direct question ,
they lie about figures on crime ,unemployment, waiting list,
wasted millions and millions of tax's payers money
how they keep going on about 1997 boom boom boom.
and its this government whats cause the biggest debt what so ever
i wont go on its scary

Because socialising interferes with the accepted lifestyle of:
work, sleep, shop.
Anything else is unnecessary to fulfil the economic need.

Smoking is a huge cost to the NHS and far outweighs any taxes the receive from fags to that is why they are discouraging smoking.
Drink pricing is all about trying to prevent teenagers from getting drunk and causing trouble as well as trying to prevent a nation of alcoholics etc.. look at the amount of policing needed on the streets when the clubs kick out, it is a huge cost and effects the well being of the public.
As for the taxes and cost of living, well it is hugely frustrating that we are paying so much but then we are funding the unemployed families and their children and there are a lot of them.
